    Planar 3 mods............

I've seen several posts here asking for advice on how to modify TTs, especially Rega TTs. I'll attach a scanned article from last month's Hi Fi World that highlights mods from a UK company called Isokinetik that some may find of interest as it compares a modified Planar 3 with a bog standard Planar 3.

You may have to save the image to your desktop and enlarge it to read........not sure how this works.

    Cheers,

    Keith

Do you have larger scans of that article? At the rez posted they aren't really readable.

Around here a lot of Rega's end up with Corian platters.

    Also,
    1/ grounding the bearing
2/ replacing metal nut with a teflon one
3/ various feet -- mine has diy isolators, dole fruit cups filled with SR500 damping compind and super-balls as single point siolators inbetween them and the stock Rega ft.

Then there are tone arm mods.

Hi Dave, if you give me your email address I'll send the images to you that way...........you'll be able to read it no problem then. The article is a good one and well worth a read. I'm using some mods from Groovetracer in my P25 with very good results.

Edit: Got your email Dave from your website and sent the article as an attachment.

    Cheers,

    Keith

The Isokinetic updates are available from Decibel HiFi. I've been eyeing off the counterweight mods for my RB250 arm but held off until I got to read this article. I'd like to get the platter and sub platter as well but the thickness of the platter differs to my existing platter by about 4 mm.

Oh yeah, one can get these turtables to really rock with some mods. Just finished listening to Joan Armatrading "Me Myself"..do yourself a favor, turn it up loud (side 1) and listen to the drums, best engineering I have heard and if the rega is on song you will know what I mean.

    hg

rega mods = groovetracer reference sub-platter, modified mat, mitchell counterweight, full mods to rega arm by audio origami, cart set with proper template. This alignment make a lot of difference. I must admit that my turntable is not able to reproduce the quiet floor that cheekyboy's does, but that turntable is a freak!!
