Technical Documents and Articles Library

Over the time i'v been on the forums i'v come accross many a good documents to do with audio, installation, practicality, myths and mis conceptions. I havn't found anywhere that has a link to all these in a single location and have caused many hours of time i could hav ebeen doing more productive things. Well thats what they say when i'm at work anyways.

Please pm me or post up links and i'll collate them all at the begining of this thread in my first post.
I'm considering adding a list to my website in correlation to many different areas, including home audio, audiophile, car audio, portable audio, magnas and so forth,

These are just a couple that i have come accross over the past couple of weeks that i have bookmarked. There are many many more and i will have to in the end organise it better i'm sure, but for a starter what do people think. PM me your aditions if you want to keep this list short if possible.

Seems like a good idea. Terry j tried to get something similar off the ground not so long ago but didnt get much help from others.

From memory Amfibius, Obiwan and Norpus have all put up links in the past that have been excellent. They are buried in various posts in PA, so hopefully they can read this and add to it. Spearmint is another now that I remember.

I think a readily accessed 'library' is a good idea, best if it contains no chit chat etc in the thread itself, so reckon that it would be excellent if you could make a sticky out of it Drizt, maybe wait till there is a bit more here.

Then an explanation of how to add to the sticky if someone comes across a good reference.

I'm not sure if this is what you're after but a couple of invaluable vinyl links from me:

good article, nice short but accurate summary so I can see at a glance whether or not the article would be of interest.

Not meaning to steal your thunder Amf, but this one was relatively easy to find, had it's own heading! It's the other good ones buried somewhere in a post that i can't easily go and find, so hopefully each of us over time can add here. No talk, good summary then the link.

That obviously means that you will have to remove evrything I just said Drizt!!

see it won't take long for the list to get too large, its good to have a shorta description but really a maximum of 5 words because the page will get too laborous to read through. I'll take it into account and see how things go,

Every so often threads will be deleted after they have been added to the top post.

Even if its easy to find, when there are a lot of posts and it is slowly moved down it will be good for beginners and verterans alike to be able to access specific links easily because searching through a single post at the top of the thread where all the links are somewhat collated is easier than searching the web and through old post's. If there are any broken links please post it and i will edit it accordingly

People were talking about the technical merits of some of these reviews in another thread. I just wanted to say it's really good to see talk of the AES as their journal articles and conference papers will be fully refereed. Also I think Amfibious mentioned one a little while back. You can't really get anything more rigorous than a referee panel.

And after having said that - here is one of my favourites (non refereed):

The Analog Dept is great reading for ALL hi fi enthusiasts. It is ESSENTIAL reading for any Garrard, Thorens or Teres owners, history buffs, tweakers and vinyl enthusiasts. It probably should be avoided by owners of very expensive turntables and compulsive tweakers and collectors....

In particular if you need to know whether that Koetsu is a good match to your RB 300 arm or the DL 103 will work in your old Lenco L75 check out these cartridge / tonearm matching links:

Here is an example from The Analog Dept of a 1958 (yes - 50 years old) Thorens TD 124 with modified RB250 tonearm, just to whet your appetite. He originally had a Graham 2.2 / Ortofon Jubilee combo (over US$5000) but preferred the sound of his Express Machining RB250 and Denon DL-103R arm and cartridge.

A marvelous idea. If I might make a recommendation. It should be categorized so readers could go right to topics on the subject they are interested in. I would like to contribute to the influence of one's room and sound waveform behavior therein. I my lengthy experience, this is every bit as important as any component in the audio chain to the object realization of one's investment. I don't know of another site, and I visit several, that even has a library, let alone maintains it. Thanks for thinking.

www.gedlee.com has some interesting (and probably controversial ) reading about stereo reproduction in general and speaker design specifics.
