  2. Very nice! The store.acousticsounds.com DSD download is really good too - I prefer it a lot more than the HDTracks version. The Jap CD 1st pressing is just as fun too. Not a fan of many of the other re-releases unfortunately. So is early vinyl ! Same goes with Off the Wall CD's I thought, although the HDTracks version of Off The Wall sounds really good.
  3. Hi all, I went to try some JH13 Pro V2's and Fitear Togo 334's today in Melbourne, with the Chord Mojo and Oppo HA-2se The Mojo sounded too smooth for me with both IEM's. I preferred the Togo's with the Oppo HA-2 but wish it had the bass adjuatment of the JH13's (where I could reduce the bass). So if I had to pick I'd go the JH13's (with bass reduction) with the Oppo HA-2se but I'd rather try other products because I still wasn't thrilled with the reduced treble of all the combinationsi tried. I hate brightness and harsheness like most people but I'm so used to AMT tweeters (their sweet detail) now which is probably why these monitors sounded too laid back today. Just wanted advice on what else I should demo? Both IEM's and headphone amp/Dac. Budget is up to $2.5k total, maximum. I've tried headphones before but want to go IEM's now. My big ears get uncomfortable with headphones after 30 minutes but I've never had issues with in-ears. Appreciate any advice :-)
  4. Weekend bumping, still available. Reasonable offers are welcome if you PM me. 5. And another: https://community.roonlabs.com/t/roon-raat-architecture-and-protocol-vs-dlna-upnp-av/8542 I just wanted to give people thinking about Roon, something else to consider other than just the UI. There's a lot deep down about sound quality. The USD500 cost is more than just for a pretty looking UI - especially when you consider the HQ Player up-sampling and convolution features coming any week now. Anyone thinking about the trial, I would recommend waiting a couple weeks for Version 1.3 to come out, to begin your trial. Then leave the rest up to your ears, as always.
  6. An even better thread to read: https://community.roonlabs.com/t/raat-and-clock-ownership/6915
  7. Hi I encourage all to have a read of this technical note regarding sound quality: https://community.roonlabs.com/t/whats-the-difference-raat-vs-airplay/6891/5 It takes a little of the subjectivity out of it. Ultimately we need to listen and decide but I'm sure I'm not the only one that is interested in the underlying architecture. The entire thread is interesting, not just that one post. Most of it is way above my head, I need to be quite blunt there lol. But I find it interesting.
  8. The Node 2 is fantastic, I had one too. Roon's UI alone wasn't enough to keep me because I've been quite comfortable browsing my music by folder view for 15 years now. i replaced the Node 2 with a $200 HiFiBerry Digi+ and did the Roon trial and found a big improvement in sound quality. I later gave the HiFiberry to the old man (who's found it a big step up over AirPlay that he was using for years) and then moved to the microRendu, but I was hooked on Roon and RAAT. Great idea though Sime about trialling Roon when the Node 2 becomes an endpoint . No need to hold your breath - the Node 2 is awesome. If I were able to lend you the HiFiBerry to try, I would but you won't have to wait like for the Node 2 Roon upgrade I don't think. Version 1.3 of Roon will include up-sampling which is something the Node 2 doesn't do. I haven't tried HQ Player but it has a huge following for it's up-sampling and convolution so Roon getting these features is sounding like a big deal but I'll need to try it myself. It's due to come out end of this month I think. Have a read of that link in the mean time whenever you get a chance.
  9. Understandable but I thought i'd leave it to the Roon expert to explain in that technical note I linked. It's an interesting read.
  10. UI is a very personal and subjective thing, completely understandable. But there's so much talk about Roon and it's UI and not as much talk about how it manages sound quality. This is a great read: https://community.roonlabs.com/t/whats-the-difference-raat-vs-airplay/6891/5 It's mostly comparing to AirPlay (which is limited to CD quality streaming) but it gives a small insight into the underlying architecture responsible for sound quality. I used WiFi streaming for years (mainly AirPlay) but really found Roon has been a huge step up in sound quality, even for CD quality music. Version 1.3 coming soon will take it up another notch I believe, with some HQ Player features built in.
  11. Hi all, could you tell them to file a police report and then the police could contact eBay for your details and then contact you? There must be a procedure between eBay and Police regarding potentially stolen goods (that must pop up all the time)? That way you're dealing with police about a legitimate concern rather than dealing with randoms? Or am I living in dreamland (as usual) and things don't work out so easily lol Cheers ! :-)

  13. Hi all, I had the NBN when I was in Tassie last year. I just used my Airport Extreme router and it was awesome. I saw mentions of NBN modems here but from memory you only need a router right? The NBN box installed in your house is essentially a modem? So you only need to add a router (for WiFi) or even just a network switch if you don't need WiFi. Have I got this right? I remember being confused by mentions of NBN modems before so wanted to help clear that up here for others. Unless I'm completely wrong. Cheers Sent from my Blackberry DTEK50 using Tapatalk
