Dave you are going to chase your tail with regards to your idea of "perfect reproduction"...

I want a violin playing through my speakers to sound like a violin, simple as that. A flat frequency response is a good place to start.

If you use a SBT  then your chances are none and f..all

Hi myrantz.

I disagree with the bold bit.

Signal to noise, distortion, channel separation, waterfall plot, phase response and group delay. These measurements of the system will give a pretty good idea on sound stage width, depth, clarity, instrument placement.

I have rarely been bowled over by an audio product. A lot of products have been talked up but generally I have been disappointed. Some products live up to expectations very very few have exceeded expectations.
Just curious if any products that have really exceeded expectation by other SNA members?

R2R (reel to reel) with master tapes digital is so far behind its scary
