No Dud Track Albums

05 September 2012 - 08:25 PM

It might've been done before but what albums do you reckon have one great track after another? As they say "all killer no filler".....

We're talking stock issue albums, not promos or comps here.

Here's a few in chronological order:

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King: seminal progressive rock - nothing more needs to be said.

Free - Fire and Water: famous for their catchy rock hit All Right Now even used in TV ads, but every other track is better.

The Go-Betweens - 16 Lovers Lane: Aussie pop, rock and folk at it's best when the 80's was way past its best!

Massive Attack - Blue Lines: I discovered this album less than 1 month ago after 21 years and I'm hooked...dunno whether you call it early trip-hop or whatever, but every track just works - with the killer standout Unfinished Sympathy

Massive Attack - like 90s Electro / Trip Hop

Massive Attack's Unfinished Sympathy for me is one of the best pop tracks of the '90s - it was just such a standout at the time, I remember. After hearing it again recently, I thought I'd give the album, Blue Lines, from which it came from a go.

I had expectations that it was the standout track on the album, which it is really, but after several listens, Blue Lines is a very good album, with loads of variety and not much filler.

Can you recommend any albums (or singles) from what I guess is called "Electro / Trip Hop" from that era? Another great track from around that time is Beats International's Dub Be Good to Me. Stuff like that...!

Cheers
Josh
