Repairer in Northern Sydney (Scan Speak Aslans)

13 April 2013 - 11:36 AM

Folks,

it appears one of the Bass drivers in my Aslan signature series is gone.   I have swapped sides and its located to the speaker rather than an amp or source issue.  There is no bass coming out and only a slight vibration in the driver when i touch it whilst music is playing.  I hope its just the driver anyway.  Andrew suggests its driver or unlikely dry joint.

Anyone on here located in the northern suburbs who would be willing to repair it for me (i will pay of course not asking for anything for free).   Or if anyone has suggestions for who i could contact.  From memory these arent easy drivers to remove so i would prefer someone who really knows what they are doing.

The driver is a Scan Speak

I will order a replacement one online and get it delivered.

new CD PUK for my 'Mercedes' transport.......... anyone know where i can get on...

15 May 2012 - 11:14 AM

well its just one of those stories. I never thought it could happen to me but it did (oh wait - wrong kind of 'forum'..)

as some know ive moved to a Audio GD transport and love it. So i have the CEC TL51X sitting unused. I thought i'd sell it and as i'm a nice guy (most days) i decided to get it serviced first just to make sure there were no issues for the potential buyer...

I took it to a guy who has repaired my Melody SP9 and Pioneer A400 Amps. Great guy and highly capable. Long story short, I arrive a few mins early, he says i will open up the garage and let me in. I didnt realise his plans were to get his car out. So i stupidly carry the CDT down the the garage and place it out front and return to my car to get the Melody (which was being checked regarding the readings on the tubes). I turn around and to my horror see his car reversing out of the garage and straight over the CDT. Im yelling and waving but to no avail... His Mercedes runs straight over the player...

So that was an interesting feeling for me..... He was mortified, i was another emotion........... I figured the player was kapult.. He said "leave it with him and he will try to repair". He did, he replaced the CD motor and got it all working barring a few cosmetic things. But the original CEC PUK that holds the CD in place is a bit too heavy now (makes a slight noise as the CD rotates). So I am looking for a replacement PUK that would be suitable.

If anyone knows where i might source one, i would be grateful. Of course, pls do so after you've stopped laughing your a.sses off... :) (its ok - i would as well)

Thanks
John
