The more you listen to low quality streams...........the better they sound.
This is why I rarely listen to anything less than wav.
(only demos or youtube.......and yeah........some movies)

Lol , yeah l know what you mean , probably because l'm just using it for background music it's doing the job ,.

I'm still keen to setup a NAS and a decent server/dac when l can afford it , l've just bought an iPad to use as a general browser/ controller so the journey has started !

Hi Kesa,

I am replying to your message, but it may apply to others. I saw this thread from the start, within a day or so they seemed sold out, I was interested in the squeezebox.

The reason was I went to Dubai and my mate there had a Sonos and playing internet radio, I was really impressed and on returning looked into doing the same but didn't have the money to buy a Sonos. Found a few media players, they weren't as good as the Sonus, the squeezbox looked good but not available. Looked at itunes and downloaded it, on my windows laptop I could see it was what I needed. Thought I needed Apple TV went to Apple store the guy said I couldn't connect my laptop to my amp and speakers using TV because you need a screen, after more research I still thought it could be done. Went back to Apple store, saw a different guy, told him what I wanted to do, he just said you need an Airexpress, for $120 I now have fantastic internet radio sound coming from my HiFi system.

Much cheaper than the squeezebox, but maybe others want more than I do. Itunes can still probably do it and I have never previously owned any Apple product.

It sounds much better than my mates Sonus.

Cheers Joey

Hi Joey , l thought about the Airexpress , but thought l'd wait and give the "Community Squeezebox" a go ( since l last posted l've bought a self powering 10m usb lead and am running via that from my main pc in my study to the dac ......this is working out heaps better as l don't have to have the plasma on etc

l'm starting to warm more to spotify as it doesn't sound to bad this way ( probably full of jitter lol ) and easier to navigate ( only early days )

On another note , l just got off the phone to our friends @ logitech and gave them a fair bloody spray ( l'm on nightshift lol ) they back pedalled saying they tried to reimburse my bank account a week or so ago , but it failed etc , they said if they could get my bank account details again they'd try again......l said if they telling the truth , they'd know that  l had paid by Paypal !  , so l've told them they have until this time tommorow to get it happening or else l'm going to paypal about it

Yeah, just got off the phone to them, still no refund, so she is going to look into it .....anyway on a brighter note , l'm going to have a go at that "community Squeezebox " when it's right to go :)

I'm getting mixed results streaming Spotify through my WDTV via toslink to my dac..........sounds a bit thin ( or as the missus calls it "tinny " ) compared to original stuff  , so l don't think l'll keep going with that after the free trial finishs ( plus it's a pain having to run the plasma just to navigate

Hi, 2 of those in an IB would be ample for that room ( also remember neighbours hate subs , IB tops the list lol ) Also test for the best position to avoid nulls etc
