kramered
Ok - so it's the long weekend. But this Sunday's meeting promises to be a great one! Yet another speaker from the collaboration of Brad Serhan, Dave Allen, Morris Swift: This state-of-the-art high-end speaker uses a RAAL ribbon tweeter and SEAS magnesium woofer. Stunning detail and resolution. Amplification (integrated) by Einstein. One of the best amps I have heard. Very hard to fault this one. It may even have the tube devotees changing their religion. Source - latest AMR DAC Signature Edition DAP777 courtesy of distributor Cameron Keating of Maxmedia. This latest DAC features substantial upgrades from the previous generation. Also iFi DAC that did so well at our recent DAC comparison meeting (low cost range from the same manufacturer, AMR) Content on CD and also JRiver. So bring your CDs and USB drives! regards Morris Swift Guests welcome. Date: Sunday 4 October 2015 (For members: ASoN's AGM will start at 2pm - For members and guests: music starts at 3pm) Time: Starts 3pm to 5pm Where: Epping Creative Centre (in the Epping Aquatic Centre Complex) 26 Stanley Road, EPPING NSW

kramered
Just a short report. I'd put this down as one of the best-sounding meetings we've had for some time. And a late addition to the gear list came from the always-affable Cameron Keating from Maxmedia who trekked from Melbourne with a bootful of kit including the very latest DAC from the esteemed AMR stable. On show were the following items: 1. YBA CD player 2. AMR DP-777 Quad Core compared to... 3. The new AMR DP-777 Signature Edition 4. Einstein integrated amplifier 5. Brigadiers Audio Group 2-way stand mount Compact BA-2 6. Tara Labs cable from its high-end range (the Air and Zero with floating ground) The sound, despite the infamous room acoustics, was dynamic, detailed and highly-resolving. The tonality, micro-detail and transient attack provided by the SE version of the AMR DAC was phenomenal and kudos to the Brigadiers Audio Group (who includes renowned speaker designer Brad Serhan) for the outstanding Compact BA-2 speakers which are all-round superb performers and are revealing enough to expose the remarkable differences between the CD player and the two versions of the AMR DAC. Once again, a big thank you to Maxmedia's Cameron Keating and the Brigadiers Audio Group's Morris Swift, Brad Serhan and Dave Allen.
