Thanks for the welcome. I am definitely feeling "old" these days.

My original system purchased in the late seventies consisted of

Connoiseur turntable/grace arm/ Garrot Bros P77 (added few years later), Luxman L-30, Interdyn P32 speakers.

Picked up a Sherwood CD player & Sherwood tuner some years later.

Bought a Project turntable maybe 10 years ago as I thought my original wouldn't last forever.

Now I have more time as the kids have grown up. I found 1 speaker woofer surround has broken down badly.

The amp crackles on start-up and favours 1 channel ( replaced recently with a Cambridge AM10 amp)

The CD player makes a noise as if is slightly unbalanced and intermittently fails to see the CD on insertion.

Purchased the Krix Atomix speakers and very happy with them but would like to get the Interdyn's going again.

Tried replacing the woofer surround with foam but the one I repaired is now way louder than the good one.

Tempted to try again with a rubber surround but don't know if will sound better.

John from Aranmar has a replacement woofer but unsure if the cost is worth it as the Krix get the job done.

Also not sure whether to dump the Luxman amp or if it is worth trying to repair it.

Looking for any ideas on the Luxman amp & the Interdyn speakers. Also any decent CD players around $200.

They all seem to be upwards of $400.
