Yes, it is ClassD, and acc'd to their forum, clearly aimed at 30 somethings, especially those into Vinyl.

Can do some basic remote control over Bluetooth.  You can also stream over Bluetooth.

The idea is to appeal to 30 somethings with something that is basically plug and play, doesn't need all sorts of cables, and can play digital or vinyl. Designed with small apartments in mind.  Basically they hope it will be an entry into the audiophile/high end world for a generation which isn't into the hobby.

Sorry to be the discordant wet blanket here but I am trying to figure what the buzz is all about with this amplifier.

It looks funky, it is compact ( so is a Rega Brio-R ) and .................................... it's cheap..........in the USA. If it gets here the $799 will morph into $1499 and  there is some good hardware around that price point.

Oh yeah, it has line level and phono inputs, not enough to make this 30 something person salivate. Another thing, 50 watts p/c into 4ohms and likely to be used with compact stand mount speakers which typically are somewhat inefficient ( 82-86db ).

How is that going to quote "blow the roof off " an apartment ? Perhaps by clipping?

Gotta love the part where Scotty comes home from a concert and fires up his Sprout to re-create the concert in his apartment :)

Anyways, the fan club on the PS Audio blog will continue apace so who I am I to say the emperor is naked, even if he is.

Plenty will disagree and that's cool too. It's a free country and I'll pass

How will it morph to $1499?

Unless of course the distributor is the usually scum sucking low lifes they are and double the retail price. But if you get a good one - they might come in less than that.

Magenta Audio are the Australian PS Audio distributor. I'd be surprised if $799 usd price will morph into $1499 aud local price. Take for example the PS Audio DirectStream DAC: in the US it's $6000 usd, here it's $6695 aud. Basically the price here is the same as US.

If it's good at what it does it will probably sell a few units.  There's bound to be a direct comparo between it and the NAD units at some stage, that should be interesting to read.

If anybody is contemplating buying one of these I suggest you sign up for Paul McGowans daily email epistle. First 100 production units offered to readers at heavily discounted price...subscribe to his mailing list for info, but be quick!

I bought one. Here's hoping it isn't only 120v. Will get it through a freight forwarder.

Even if it is step down transformers are cheap so it isn't that much of an issue really.

Be sure to let us know what you think, curious minds are dying to know.

Guys, please help me out here. I have truly lost the plot ( assuming there actually is one )

Honest question from a hapless sceptic. What exactly is the appeal of this amplifier?

I am 100% serious and there really must be so many great things about this product which are totally lost on me. I just cannot find them. I rarely ( if ever ) become so befuddled, but I need your help on this one.... big time.

Thanks :)
