My junkyard bits-and-pieces system

Well I thought I'd better put up some pics of my low-end system to balance out all the ultra awesome gear on this forum. :)

As I've said in other threads, I love my music but can't afford anything too fancy, so over the years I've been adding whatever I can find in secondhand shops, garage sales etc and put together something which works pretty well.

Unfortunately the rooms in this house don't allow for a lot of spacing and most of the gear is up against the walls.

Maybe the next house will be bigger...

So.

In the computer/music room we have.

Which runs through mixer

Which has a set of 1210s as well but we all know what they look like.

Mixer feeds old faithful

Excuse the poor iPhone photo quality.

My camera is on the blink at the moment....

The mixer also feeds a crappy stereo in the shed with speakers both in shed and on the patio so I can listen to whatever wherever whenever, all at once or individual rooms.

It works well and I keep adding and replacing bits as I go.

Wouldn't be more than $1000 worth of gear probably but it keeps the house rockin. :)

I got the NAD amp for free but it cost something like $180 to fix whatever was wrong with it haha.

Ah well, you get that....

So there you have it folks.

The cheapest setup on this forum.

Hey....isn't it amazing what you can find for next to nothing nowadays.....:thumb:

Yep.

Most of the speakers were either free or around $20, the Sherwood I got from a pawnshop for $120 I think...

I'd love to be able to spend more money on better (and matching) gear, but we can only do what we can do.

.

I've ha the Technics amp for near on 15 years I think.

Used to punish it severely when we did houseparties and it would go flat out for 24 hours.

You could fry an egg on top of it but it never missed a beat.

Good work putting together a few systems that let you enjoy your music.

And having components from about 15 different brands haha.

That's an achievement in itself :)

I like those spirit absolute speakers.

Spirit makes very nice gears.

I once had a spirit notepad mixer which replaced a (more expensive) forte pre amp in my audio system.

I still remember the sweet warm sound of the spirit notepad fondly.

None, but we used to travel and live in a '76 (I think) bay window Kombi many years ago.

Pop top, fold up bed, cupboards, 3-way fridge etc.

Think we blew 5 cylinder heads in the 3 years we had it.

Maybe 6.

While it was nothing but trouble I wouldn't change it if I could.

Great times and one of the bucketlist things to do.

Travel around in a Kombi.

Tick.

I noticed you had pioneer 3 ways? Have you got any photos of them?

Sent from my iPhone 5.

They're just some random speakers from a compact system or something, I think.

Will take a pic later.

Dunno mate.

A quick Google search didn't bring up much.

I don't think they're anything special....

Found this pic online.

Think it's the same ones.

No worries.

I thought this section needed a bit of Lo-Fi with all the high end stuff you guys have.

^_^

It works well, for what it is, and it keeps getting better.

I only wish the room was a bit bigger so I could space things out more.

:)
