Here is mine - from Netspace.

19572kb/s from a 1500kb/s connection is probably a little too good me thinks. Although 210kb/s upload from a 256kb/s connection is about right.

Steven.

Here's what mine is now:

Seems to be the same as before as it should be. I just have to turn the firewall privacy settings on off, which I have to do for EBay anyway.

Not too shabby, plenty fast for me.

Mostly bearable, can be a bit slow on occasion, depending on what one is downloading.

Quick enough for my purposes though. ;)

Maybe it's faster for staff, or maybe it's just faster now the students have gone for the year, anyway this is what I get at work:

That was during the day, at 5.30 it was:

Seems quite variable really. I can't believe RMIT is faster, must go and talk to the guys who research fast internet and get that fixed ;)

Hi Keith

What plan are you on - adsl2 unlimited? and at what cost/mth please?
I like the idea of that sort of speed as my cable broadband is reliable yet only 6-8Mb/s typically for 20GB and $70/mth

Hi Norps, I am on iinet Home4 Broadband. You get ADSL2, 15GB peak and 30GB offpeak. Whether you actually get those speeds depends on how far you live from the nearest ADSL exchange and how many other people are connected at the same time. I am paying $59.90 per month.

Thanks Keith for the link
I have had a look.
plans down/up speed peak + offpeak quota
home 4 - $59.95 1500/256k 10GB + 15GB

The speeds here look less than what I currently attain with cable, and way way lower than your speed test results (which attracted me)

My speed tests on cable are pretty steady - 6000/600k is all I get on average but is steady. Are your speeds variable and how often do you get the big speeds you quoted in your original text?
I am keen to get better speeds but don't want to jump ship if I get roughly same performance or less

Norps I don't know how often I get those speeds because I have only tested my connection twice (on the same day!). At present I am away for work, but when I get home tomorrow evening i'll test it again.

Greeting's Guys, This lil doggy is on an optus fusion $99 plan , Most phone calls free + 20 gig's of Internet usage.

http://personal.optu...n&site=personal

Compared to the home land line package that I was on , Its 48.99 for the 20 Gig's

I find the connection to the optus server does 20mb/s , but rarely get near that when downloading from sites ?

Cheers

Hey Norpus,

I think you're looking at the ADSL1 stuff rather than the ADSL2+ stuff

home 4 - $59.95 ADSL2+ speeds7GB + 14GB $59.95

Still, I wasn't aware ADSL2+ had gone to those sort of speeds. Maybe that's the "+" I was aware ADSL2 was up to 24MB (theoretical).

I reckon Keith's new house is inside the exchange. :D

They'll either be on an Ethernet connection or a fast optic fibre setup. ADSL2+ is only capable of a maximum of a 20mbps connection. SHDSL is slower (but far more reliable).

ADSL2+ is capable of a maximum of 24mbps. Anything faster is not possible. Even if you live at the exchange. Online speed tests like that aren't reknowned for their reliability or accuracy btw. I usually get my customers to FTP to a known server and test that way, far more reliable. Oh, and I work for an ISP - this is my bread 'n' butter.

Dave

PS I work for a small ISP, so we (the techs) get access to the core router (level 15 admin access), you don't get that sort of access if you work for Hellstra or Sloptus...most of those techs know jack.
