Newman
I thought just for fun I'd post the top things I'm sick of hearing in the world of hifi. Here are some that come to mind: Garbage in, garbage out (garbage anywhere, garbage out, surely) Better micro-dynamics (dynamics is a macro phenomenon) It shows pace, rhythm, and timing Have you upgraded the power supply? The missing information in digital sound Sucks all the life out of it The music is all that matters / It’s all about the music Don’t use the digital volume control Organic sounding What cables are you using? Your budget of $1,000 (per component!) is severely limiting TT-DR scores The Loudness War You must immediately replace your AV audio gear with stereo gear Blind testing won’t work with hifi because… Is this a good price? / How much should I pay for this? What cartridge can I buy that doesn’t play static or scratches? I let the needle clean the groove It has a more analog sound Feel free to add to the list! And remember, it's just for fun.

Peter_F
Punches above its weight - At this rate the majority of low-fi will beat just about all hi-end gear! It's all about the mid-range - That is so wrong IMHO!

cheekyboy
Punches above its weight - At this rate the majority of low-fi will beat just about all hi-end gear! I prefer "punches above its price point" which I think is a better description, given the amount of hi fi equipment that is bought on price [high] and brand and thus perceived quality..................but that term is probably over used too. Yep if everything punches above its weight, they are probably punching in their correct division and others are just over priced.

Sir Triode
It costs $50,000/100,000/250,000! It must be 1000x better/must sound fantastic/is worth the money/Value for money.... You must be suffering from sour grapes because you can't afford it... You can't put a value on components of this level/price.... Sure it sounds bad because you have put a $1500 speaker at the end of my $50,000 system...there is a system level/quality mismatch...
