lusk
Looks good, the story line could be trash given Damon Lindelof's involved.

Soundscape
Looks like typical H'wood cheese to me, but I shall reserve judgement until screening, suspended disbelief etc. But I must say, the previews give away far too much as always. edit, without really saying anything... betty boop
grabbed it on blu-ray and a short review from me below, Startrek into the darkness - UK Release - 7.1 Dolby True HDMovie - 4/5 - Even though a star trek fan from the original TV series, I somehow missed the 2009 movie, but grabbed this one and was very pleasantly surprised. Loved it ! This is star trek in its original form, with the original characters. and done brilliantly well. Good story line, with plenty of elements of the original series. Looking forward to now go back to the earlier 2009 movie.PQ - 4/5 - Absolutely stunning, you will have to excuse the JJ Abrams lens flare effects which are used and used often (hence the 4/5)...as he did in super 8. but putting that aside the movie has a nice film look to it and beautifully photographed and CGI where used is also used to good effect. I took some screen shots which give some idea of PQ of the film AQ - 4.5/5 - Sensational ! this thing kicks in dynamics, awesome bass and LFE plus good use of surround effects. Overall - 4/5 - Enjoyed the movie overall, that looking to go back to the earlier 2009 movie ( to which I dont believe this is a sequel as such) and also looking forward to Star Trek 3 coming up. Defiitely grab this on blu-ray well worth a view some quick screen shots, Edited September 13, 2013 by :) al

DoggieHowser
I watched the iTunes version not too long ago but I'd love to see it again on BR. I still think the reboot was more engaging a show but this one just pays homage and still kicks ass for a whole new generation of fans.

proftournesol
I finally caught up with this movie on the small screen. I hated it and could barely sit through it until the end. It was a great action film but it just wasn't Star Trek. No philosophy, no ethics, no idealism. Very disappointing
GregWormald
I enjoyed this--and was disappointed. The action and cinematography were good, but the story was derivative and some of the situations/story lines were ludicrous. At times I was groaning! Turn your brain off and go for the action--3.5/5. Go to see a Star Trek film with some plot--2.5/5. Greg
DoggieHowser
I finally caught up with this movie on the small screen. I hated it and could barely sit through it until the end. It was a great action film but it just wasn't Star Trek. No philosophy, no ethics, no idealism. Very disappointing I suspect that people often remember Star Trek with rose tinted glasses. My wife and I recently went through all 3 seasons of TOS, all the TOS movies, then the TNG movies and now in S4 on TNG and you know what, there have been some real stinkers in there. I get that the reboot is more about the action than a concept. But it does have elements of a good movie - it has good pacing, good actors who can embody the essence of the characters in TOS and a reasonably logical story. I like that it brings the Trek universe to a whole new audience. While there is a homage to Wrath of Khan, this timeline really takes place before TOS' five year mission. Peter_F
I just finished watching it and loved it. Left my brain in the other room and just enjoyed the ride. Not as good as the previous movie, but still very good IMO.
robin-hobart
Saw it on the plane last month. With another 4. Shocker! Couldn't bother with the last 15 minutes. OTT in every silly respect. But about what I have come to expect these days. Don't waste your time is my recommendation
gemini07
I saw the movie on blu ray at home and subsequently bought it. To those who claim there was no plot and little in the way of ethics, idealism etc, how about this: Man's obsession with order and rules for the sake of them, rather than questioning their real and ongoing value? The loss of human values of friendship, moral obligation and self sacrifice simply to be seen as a 'team player'? Trust, self belief and respect for other people, regardless of their background? The importance of having fun in life and maintaining a balanced perspective? Yep - all in that same movie! BTW - the picture quality and sound effects I thought were superb.
