Interesting Nada,
I see they look a little slimmer than the 2905's which one of my major gripes, and the impedance does not go below 4ohms which should ease the load on the amp somewhat. Would love to hear a pair.

Saw a post on another site saying it was a mostly a cosmetic update - from the specs listed here that seems correct. Nicer wood veneer though. Looking slimmer is probably the aspect the photo is taken, assuming no post processing of the pic of course!
A=Clearaudio AvantGarde Magnum (CMB)-SME-V+Lyra Helikon SL, D=Meridian 506/20bit, Power=ME1400/850/ME25, Cables= Anti Cables / speaker and IC + Klotz microphone cable pre-to-power, Speakers=QUAD 2905
For Sale - nothing

It is very strange that this speaker is not listed on the Quad UK Website. Where did you find these specs, Nada?

Looking at the unofficial specs does make it look like it is just a cosmetic upgrade alright. All the specs are the same except for wt and possibly dimensions (depending on feet). Maybe they look slimmer only cause they are taller? Bit like putting the missus on the rack - looks like a new model but performs the same at home.

Unofficial 2912 specs
Wymiary produktu: 1470 x 690 x 380 mm
Waga netto: 44.00 kg

vs official 2905 specsDimension (H × W × D) 1430 × 695 × 385 (mm) (add 25-55mm for feet)
Net Weight 41.6kg each

careful you might get slapped for that ;)

I'm curious about what they mean ; "Frequency Response: 32Hz - 21kHz (-6dB), 28Hz - 21kHz (usable)"

Usable ??

It's all an experiment !

Sadly Quad are not Quad any more. They have lost their way! :(

No matter how far you go down the wrong road, you have to turn around.

Not really, Olderas, by all reports, and from what I've heard.

The Quad 2805 and 2905 were an improvement on the ESL63, and there is no particular reason to doubt the quality of the new model.

In addition, the resurrection of the old Quad mono-blocks, and the introduction of the larger output valve mono-blocks has also been a success.

They would have had difficulty continuing the way they operated previously.

Maybe a Quaddie should go and have a listen. Thing is, what would they improve over the old one. If they have further improved the structural rigidity and parts quality then you might only hear the differences. Specs are vague at best, even for companies that put more effort into them.

If you are a Quaddie you are probably not interested in specs anyway. "its the vibe". A Quaddie ain't an obsessive audiofile, the are either still listening to their 57s or they are yet to get their first pair (maybe listening to their 11ls while saving up)
