Title pretty much says it all.
Currently have a 640A and have the opportunity to buy a Creek 5350SE for <$200.
Know nothing about the Creek except to take the seller's word that it "is working 100%" and appears to be in very good physical condition.
Would you guys consider this a definite upgrade, or more of a sideways step?

Speakers at the moment are a set of Zaph Audio SR71 in some basic mdf cabinets, 0.85cuft sealed volume.
Waiting for time and/or money to make some "proper" cabinets, similar in shape/appearance to the Usher X-718.

Not sure if it would be an upgrade (I haven't heard either), but where is this being advertised? This would be a bargain at twice the price!

Definitely not an upgrade, but also not a downgrade, although I would have thought that the Cambridge had a higher current capability and could be used more effectively with a wider range of speakers.

I agree with Rantan - just a difference in sound and may be more suitable to your ears.

Fair enough guys. I stumbled across the Creek in a local advertisement...of sorts :)
Sounds like it's probably not worthwhile, though if I have a little spare cash at the end of the pay period I might just pick it up anyway

I preferred the Creek over the Cambridge. Slightly more warmer and fuller sounding whereas to me the Cambridge seemed a bit bright. The speakers at the time were themselves a little bright, the Creek tamed that as well as doing deeper, tighter bass.

$200 is a screaming bargain though, I'd you don't like it, it shouldn't be hard to move on.

Well that was wasted effort
"Item ship from China, send to Ballarat, VIC...need $xxx send to bank."

Ahhhh, maybe I'll pass thanks.
Le sigh.
Now to wait for another NAKSA 100 (or nCore400) to come up in the FS forum.
