Is anyone particularly excited about some new piece of audio nirvana that is about to hit the shelves? Or do you have some pre-release news on something that the rest of us might be interested to know? Or if you just like to gossip on about new gear (and don't most of us?).

If so, stick your info below!

I'll start, I have heard that Burson has a new piece of gear in developement. I've even been sent a pic but I was sworn to secrecy on any details (except that it looks so pretty!) so you will have to guess what sort of piece of gear is going to follow their recently released preamp. Not really that difficult is it?

Anyone else with any hot goss?

Audio Origami has a new tonearm the RB7, a baby brother to their PU7, it utilises the rega 3 point mount with arm tube and counterweight from the PU7. About 1000 pounds less than the PU7 too.

No I'm not working for them, just interested in the arm as it's in my price range.

Got any hot goss? Yes, but I'm sworn to secrecy other than being able to say Rod Crawford has been very active lately.

Yeah, I noticed there's a couple of discounted Tikandi demo setups available on the Legend website and wondered if a new model was coming.

Yep D X . I bugs me that Rod Crawford, one of the wolds most talented speaker designers, is largely ignored by snobbish Australian audiophools who delude themselves only imported gear is worth considering.

PS DX, if proctology one of your hobbies?

Well I can tell you I certainly haven't ignored his work. I'm actually snobbish in the other direction in that I'm really only interested in Australian made. Having said that Seaton Subwoofers from the USA are probably at the top of my "hot list".

PS: No certainly not a hobby or a profession. I use my profile pic to remind myself to keep my fiber intake...well and truly up! :)

OK, let's get this one sorted out before I start a flame war. Notice the word ONLY in my post and consider it's significance within the context.
Secondly I run Usher BE 10's and the last time I looked they had a label on the back which said 'Made in Taiwan'
My original point sticks though, theres a rampant snobbery infecting many Australian audiophiles who simply refuse to believe anything made in Australia is worth their consideration.
And yes, I do have a pair of Australian speakers in my HT setup, Legend 'Big Reds' which for the money asked piss on a great many imported designs from a great hight.

I love seeing new gear that is aesteically well designed and also cutting edge.

I also love the use of wood in hifi in speakers, headphones (my current set uses Japanese cherry wood), headphone stand etc

Great sound and aesthetic design.

I've got a bit of goss, Magico are releasing a smaller 2 driver version of the S5 called the S1. It features an entirely new 7” Magico Nano-Tec® Midbass driver with the same beryllium tweeter featured in the S5. The midbass driver is pretty awesome and incorporates a dual-neodymium underhung motor system with pure titanium voice coil-former, so very good. Frequency response is the same as the Q1's, making the S1's a bargain at $12,600US!

It seems the boys at Burson are very busy. They have 3 pieces of gear in development, not just one. With luck they will end the year with the announcement of one or more new products though I don't believe a firm date for any of the 3 has been set. I can't say much more than that but I can add that when 2 of these items become available I will be getting my grubby little paws on them as quickly as possible and doing a comparo with whatever I can find (I'll definitely have something on hand). It just might be an awesome Christmas!

I see news regarding "The Conductor" has appeared on John Darkos Digital Audio Review site. That's one!

I really hope they make that November release date.

sorry for the OT cafad, but I had to laugh when I saw one of the Thread tags "possible inaccuracy"... I wonder how many times THAT gets used as a search term?! ;)....

I'm excited about my new TV - but that's not hifi gear so I'd better not go on.... :P

You're right Juicester, that's one of my weaknesses, using strange but descriptive thread tags. Usually only on silly threads but it really depends on my mood when I start it. I sort of consider the tags as more of a descriptive term than a useful search term. On a completely unrelated topic I am a very big fan of "googlewhackblats" :) .

Also, I see that Burson have had a bit of a website shuffle, if you check out the Conductor page photo gallery the bottom right pic shows the conductor sitting on another component, a description of which has yet to be announced. The pic does have a name however!

Well spotted Cafad. I have looked and seen it too. What do you think it is. Power supply?

Well I'm not meant to be saying anything but I can say that it is not a power supply. Check out John Darkos news page Conductor article if you want to know a little bit more.

Hope you get over that flu

I notice that the "Timekeeper" is no longer a secret. John Darko has spotted one over in the US. This is the half-size power amp that is meant to have the Conductor or Soloist paired with it.

...I also noted the presence of the timekeeper cafad, although I must say I am disappointed by the inclusion of what appears to be a exhaust fan on its derrière. I'm simply not a fan of fans in my hifi gear. I'd have preferred a full size casing and decent heatsinking.

Hopefully the "next" burson offering does not need to resort to active cooling.

nice thread. like the idea...

musical fidelity have a new dac coming in the m6dac.

MF it seems also have a unit that combines the m1 dac and HPA, which is probably a good idea :)

I posted this on AudioEnz the other day, it seems appropriate to post it here too:

Yesterday morning Benchmark Media sent me the press release for their new reference DAC, the DAC2 HGC: http://www.benchmark...om/dac/dac2-hgc

Yesterday evening I put my W4S DAC2 up for sale, and sold it within a few hours. This morning I contacted the Australian distributor of Benchmark Media to put in a pre-order for the Benchmark DAC2 HGC. Hopefully I'll be one of the first in Australia to receive one.

So why did I do this? Well, while the W4S has been a great DAC I've never heard another DAC that I have enjoyed as much as Benchmark's original DAC1 (no matter the price). The release of a new, higher end Benchmark product got me very excited. There's an unexplainable something about the Benchmark sound that just fits with want I want from my system.

Everyone who loves hi fi surely remembers the first product that really excited them. For me that product was the Benchmark DAC1 (tied with the Plinius SA100 mk1).

I'll report back when I receive my new DAC. I really can't wait. I haven't been this excited about hifi since, well, since I heard the original DAC1.
