Hi all,

Im not sure if I'm posting in the right forum, but either way, I'm looking for someone in Syndey who could possibly replicate this.

Any ideas or thoughts would be most appreciated.

Cheers,

Glen.

Its a fairly straightforward cabinet i.e. something I'd easily make for myself, but would be expensive from a pro nevertheless (timber and finishing).

I'd recommend these guys

Hi I'm a chippy and like Elil says it's a simple enough rack to make, but for the time it would take to make and finish it, a carpenter could /would earn twice else where. Elill is on the right track with his link, their work looks very good they would be more competitive that a carpenter.

I'd be interested to see what sort of quotes you get for this. I'd have thought the SGR racks would be a similar price....different design of course....but then you dont have the hassle.

I dont like the laminated timber legs of this design, would look much better with solid timber (cost more) and I'd mitre the top corners (look better)

edit: not laminated, just lazy joinery

You see plenty of similar units in furniture shops............without the spikes.
Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

I just came across this thread. The expense in the cabinet seems to come from the labor cost in laminating the timber shelves - which give it its superior sound deadening qualities. I will be building a new cabinet for my setup and I think I will incorporate the design ideas into it. It will probably work out cheaper overall compared to using 100% solid jarrah as I had originally intended. ( I am not a carpenter but I do (try to) build fine furniture as a hobby).
