Picked up this new mag at lunch time today.
I'm attracted to shiny things :)
A new Australian high end mag, edited by Edgar Kramer, who I believe is a member on this forum.
Haven't read any of the articles yet, but the mag features some beautiful photography.
Will have a read later on, but looks promising.

Esoterica is a regular feature of Aus Hi-Fi magazine where Ed interviews people with high-end systems, including quite a few SNA members.
Could be a collection of these interviews - only guessing.

Probably an extension of that idea Wolster.
But no systems featured in this mag that I could see.
Has some product reviews, interviews with shops, designers and distributors, news etc.

Interesting, Darryl. In that case it is a competitor to Aus Hi-Fi, unless published by the same company.

Published by the same mob I'd say.
There's a small Australian HiFi logo on the front cover, and Greg Borrowman contributes.
But while I never buy Aus HiFi, this one managed to extract $10 out of me!!!!

I bought it, thought it was quite good but a bit light on subjective impressions and opinions. For example, the reviewer, in his review of the B&W 802's mentions several times that he has Wilson Sasha's, but then makes no comparison of their sound vs the B&W. I thought that was a bit odd.

We were approached by aus hi fi to buy a section in the publication but decided not to when we realized it was going to be a love fest for kedcorp as they had the front cover already sown up. A magazine called audio used to do a yearly publication where the cover was photographed as a system made up of lots of products but by different manufacturers and distributors, that way no ones nose got put out of joint.
Still it's a worthwhile read and the quality is good.
Cheers.

I first heard about Audio Esoterica via a regular newsletter email from AVhub.

I wondered if Australian Hi Fi magazine was being replaced or whether Audio Esoterica was a completely new magazine.
I checked with SNA’s very own EK, well known reviewer Edgar Kramer if he could explain what the news was.

It turns out Audio Esoterica is indeed a new publication that should be available in newsagents now. EK is also the Editor of the new magazine.
Here’s what Ed had to say about it:

“Yes, Audio Esoterica is a new magazine that I am Editor of. It's a separate publication to Aus Hi-Fi and it's purely based on high-end equipment. It's a coffee table book style mag with heavy gauge paper and superb photography reflecting the quality of the gear inside. Worth getting at your local newsagent there's some very tasty stuff I was privileged to review.”

Hmmm...lots of photography and stuff of dreams, drool away!

I had the pleasure of travelling in W.A recently with Ed and first heard of this magazine then. It sounds like a great concept and one I and SNA would happily support. Send some info through Ed!

Thanks Marc, guys. Audio Esoterica was a pleasure to produce. I see it as a celebration of the high-end and recognition of excellence in audio engineering and industrial design. Akin to reading about Bugattis, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, etc if you're a car enthusiast, even though those luxuries may be beyond the financial reach of most of us.

Hope it's a good read too.

AE should be available at most newsagents where Aus Hi-Fi is available (similar distribution arrangement).

Cheers,
EK
