Hi All,

Would just like to know if any one has any knowledge, or opinoion of the beautiful "Amazon One" Turntable, ie, does it have a signature sound, any problems. Can another tonearm be fitted other than the Morch (expensive)

here is a link to web page http://www.amazon-au...ngl_Ama_A1.html.

Cheers,

Gavin.

It clearly says on that linked page that other tonearms (up to 12 inch) can be used.

It was an idea first used on the Pink Triangle Anniversary back in the 80s.

Amazon make an interesting speaker as well - open baffle 2 way with a EMT mid/treble driver and a 15" bass driver.

Read the mini review on Audiogon and saw the site you posted a link to . Canadian I think.

Shame there isnt much info around about this table, but that may be saying something in itself, as i was looking at the one posted on Ebay UK currently at a bit over 2k with no bids or questions and only 10hrs to go, and it has been up for a week.

I didn't think trying to find a new turntable, would be such a task!

Cheers

That's part of the fun Gavin! It will make the acquisition all the more enjoyable when you find the gem you've been after. I reckon the Amazon tables look amazing. Good luck with the search!

that lack of interest could well be a worry
are replacement bits available?
can u find out in a few hours?
in these situations i want proven provenance ie discussion on a number of sites from a number of owners something well beyond a fan club especially a nationalist one
seems to be none of that provenance
i wouldnt buy it at 2 k from over seas with heavy weight and high postage without more

but i might be wrong
it might take off in dying seconds

http://www.ebay.com....984.m1423.l2649 Hope this works. Do I really want to get up at 4:30am and watch the price sky rocket as it is expensive new. i have been in contact with the owner and it is in the condition as it looks in his posted photos. has no or has not had any issues and the charging unit is 240v and has original shipping carton.

Still more questons than answers djb I had thought of all those things.

I think I will go and get on my Flight Sim and not worry, if it happens it happens, not the only Turntable out there.

Cheers
Gavin.

I managed to get up at 4am and watch the auction, and watch it I did, still not even one bid, 10sec mark still no other bids, i had my price filled in and at the ready for the final click, but it didn't feel right, so i let it go. I think in the end I would have liked more encorouging information on the company and their products (Turntable)

Gavin.

Given that it failed to attract any bids, I would try to make a deal with the seller.

See whether you can include the shipping in that price ;)

Amazon TT??? What's next, a Google DAC?

Can’t tell if you're serious or trolling hard. The internet has dulled my sarcasm receptors.

Early this evening I had what seemed like a great weight lifted from my shoulders, I turned down the owners offfer he made after the item did not sell on eBay. The offer was reasonable, with him offering a reduction and part payment towards postage and insurance.

I thought about it all day as I recieved his email before work, and at the end of the the day i was still undecided. that told me something in itself. other negative factors for my decision

1: Dealing with an unknown person outside of eBay

2: No rep in Aus where do i turn to in case of problem. Germany? (Postage ouch!!)

3: Added cost of about $800.00 if duty and GST were to apply. I know some things get through if your lucky. I got an expensive camera sent over nothing, yet my brother same camera had to pay.

4: Just not enough info about the Amazon range of TT about. One site in the US. and a mini review by an owner on audiogon, no resellers anywhere

5: 9k TT for 2.5 too good to be true?

Thanks for all those who had an input and interest in this thread, Next time I will consider all options, leasson learned. with no regreats.

Cheers
Gavin.

Seemed like a good buy ..

I know this is not the same model but here is a review on the Amazon Referenz ... which you may have already seen? This reviewer on 10Audio just loved this turntable

http://www.10audio.c...z_morch_dp8.htm

In fact i came on hear after seeing this review on 10Audio and reading a few other reviews on Audiogon to see if this TT was known on this site. It appears not?

It could have been a great buy. The Ebay seller has a great reputation ... i doubt you could of gone too wrong with this.

I have purchased MANY items from EBAY sellers all over the world at these sorts of prices and i have not once had a bad experience ... well perhaps one with some wine i purchased but that was really my own stupid fault ... :D ... and fortunately the $$ lost on that particular transaction was less than $1K!!
