Just a heads up that HAA (Home Acoustics Alliance) training is returning to Melbourne in August, offering up to 4 days of training on how to set a room for best sound. The course is designed for primarily for home theatre set up, but there is plenty of good stuff for the 2 channel guys.
I participated in the full course last year and got plenty from it. I recommend it highly.
Anyone interested, give Gordon Rosario from Acoustic Vision a call, his details along with a course overview are on this link, http://events.r20.co...5vxh7sn6c891bef

Phil do you know if these courses are ever conducted in Brisbane? If not i might have to try to get a week off and come down to Melbourne ...which itself wouldn't be a bad thing ...
Hi Jeff, this is to be the second time that the HAA training is being provided in OZ by Gerry Leemay and so far Melbourne is the only city on offer (probably coz it is the audio hub of OZ
It would be a great reason for a week away from work. The course is centrered toward people in the audio industry, however enthusiests who are interested in how to take and understand measurements in order to get the most from their gear and room are also very welcome. The course certainly corrected some things I thought were true.

There is no obligation to purchase any measurement gear as portable units are provided for the course. Last year we used Sencore products and a number of us bought gear after the training at discounted prices. I do not know what gear will be used this year.
For the home enthusiast, REW or similar would be fine to use. For someone wanting to sell these new found skills, then a more portable solution might be preferred.
