The SBT I ordered last week will hopefully arrive soon and I am thinking about how to set it up. Am currently using in one room a MacBookPro connected to an external USB DAC and Small XTZ Class D amp and was thinking to place the SBT in another room with my old Luxman SS amp, running the server on the laptop via WiFi. Is it possible to set up a two-room system where SBT and MBP play the same music at the same time?

You can run Squeezplay on the Mac and it 'looks' to the Logitech server software just links a sbt.

That will allow synchronized play

However the sound may not be as good as a dedicated player program on the mac, such as bit perfect

I wouldn't expect the software squeezebox to stay as well syncronised as a hardware SB would. But I've never tried it myself.

I've done this with squeeze slave. The sync ing worked well.

Thanks for your help. Am running squeezeslave and it works perfectly well. What a difference it makes at home to not have different music running at the same time

Now next I am going to check whether connecting my Hegel HD2 DAC to the USB port of the SBT gives to-me-noticeable SQ improvements over the internal SBT DAC. When first connecting the analog output of the SBT to my amp, I was a bit disappointed by the SQ. However, since I have not done any direct AB comparisons, this impression may be psychological. After all, the Hegel is a very simple DAC.
