New speakers...more fun or headache?

Was wondering if someone could help me with this one...
I have Yamaha RX-V663 which served me well till now. I got a set of 5 new speakers(sub is coming soon from US). 4 speakers( satellites) are 6 ohms and the centre is 4 ohms. My receiver has a 6 ohm setting but once I changed it to 6 ohms(was previously on 8 and worked without any probs) the receiver went stupid! Now two front speakers are not working at all although the connection and setting is right. I tested the speakers separately and they work fine.
Is there anything I could do to fix this?
Cheers

Not sure if the below helps:

My previous RXV750 had a switch at the back to go between 8ohm and 6ohm - never had a problem switching between the two. Perhaps your receiver/settings just needs resetting.
Also - if your receiver has zone settings - check this - sometimes the remote has a tendency to switch it to Zone 2/Speaker B.
Good luck.

Wow thats was a fair bit of effort to put even a link in...very appreciated. I do have 2 zone option but I never used it before. It is just "sitting" there unused since I use the receiver in 5.1 channel mode only. My Orbs gave me no hard time at all it was just plug in and play...
I did not do a proper setup ( with microphone etc) yet, because I am still waiting for the sub to arive from the US. Do you think that it would be useful to have a go at the set up regardless? I could get a bit more info on what is wrong?
Possibly reset the unit to its factory setting? I followed the instructions as per manual and changed impendance to 6 Ohms but still no luck. Is it unusual not to have any sound through the speakers regardless the impendance? I never drive the speakers hard, 40-50 wats max... I understand that the whole impendance issue is not a biggie as long as you do not drive speakers hard and very loud becuase the amp will overheat and "die in pain". Am I getting this right?
cheers

Hi Jarko,
Hope you enjoy the Orbs. Got a Mod 2 stereo pair a few weeks back and am very happy with the way the look and sound. Using them with a Velo sub and an Audiolab amp. I'd give Yamaha a call if I were you and speak to someone in tech support perhaps.
Good luck

Orbs were good but since I moved into a new house a bit "weak" for the new room. I now I could have added extra modules...but needed change. Now I got Dynaudio front and centre and Q acoustic back surround. I am still waiting for Definitive Technology Supercube 2000 it should be in soon( next week I hope). Thanks for your suggestion, will try that, unless I can sort it our myself...I am that type of guy I guess.

Gotta love the microphone setup. Makes a good baseline for adjusting.
