Hi all,
I realise that this is my call but would like some feedback. Getting back into the hi-fi space and just scored a set of Monitor Audio R352's. Must be mid-80's I think. Original but cosmetically a bit ratty but sound awesome.
Okay. So here's the dilema. Happy to have them as keepers but they really don't go with the rest of the house, (So I've been told).
Are there a few of these about? So if I was to strip them down and modernise them by painting them or vinyl wrapping and re-powder coat the legs in a different colour would that send me straight to hi-fi hell? Or will I be forgiven?
If the speakers are in short demand then I'll restore them and use them to drown out the sound of the other advisor in the house.
If not then I might go play.
Thanks

But can you make them pretty enough?
What you are talking about is cosmetic, if you were a true audiophile you would improve them at the same time. New caps for the crossovers, better internal wiring, reduce cabinet resonances. Tweek like you have never tweaked before.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder however. Maybe he only thing that will satisfy is Bose cube speakers. Good luck.

The internals are a given and delivers something tangible that we can all appreciate and therefore add value, (in my eyes).
The Bose cubes are down stairs in the kids play room.
