My right-eye retina spontaneously detached last week and I found myself on the BEST anaesthesia by Thursday night (whilst the surgeon lasered and cryo-d) TWO retinal tears. I now have a gas bubble in my right eye and won't be able to see **** from shinola for at least the next few weeks. Yesterday, I had the first post-OP consult and was told that everything was going swimmingly and that my eye should be back to normal operation in 4-6 months. I won't go blind - a HUGE relief. Thank ______________ <----- insert deity of choice here.
ALL hifi reviews are on hold for at least 4-6 weeks. Possibly. Probably.

Good to hear JD. Must be a relief to know all will be ok in time.
Take it easy.
Sure is.
In a hifi context, the biggest challenge now is affording the medical bill that will flow my way. Will likely have to sell most everything I own and then start again from scratch in a coupla months.

Sorry to hear about the eye problem, but glad to hear the surgery went well. I guess that means you will be relying more on your sense of hearing while you convalesce, so I'd say a system upgrade is called for!
All the best for a speedy recovery.

Out of curiosity - did you consider going to a public hospital? This would have been an ophthalmic emergency and all costs covered by medicare.

A warning to everyone: if EVER you see little bright flashes of light in your eye (when you blink) you could possibly have a torn retina. You need to get to a hospital the SAME DAY.

Interesting about the blue flashes. From what you describe this could be an indication all is not well in the optical department?
I'm sure all here have their fingers crossed that you won't be out of action for very long. Take care.

You should have asked him to cryo some cables while he was at it!
On a serious note, I hope your recovery is swift my friend. Catch up soon!
