'Evening All,

I seem to be enduring a never-ending issue with Extended-Warranty Insurers in the last few months.

Just curious if any forum member has had dealings with this firm of underwriters and their experience.

If you'd rather not post in open forum, I welcome your message via a PM.

Thanks in anticipation,

Russ.

I've always viewed extended warranty as a rort, so I've never taken it out.
Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Russ,
If your not happy with the wty let Harvey N know what's going on!
Read the conditions and know your rights. I had one of the wty with Retravision and 3 days before the wty ran out the TV failed. They arranged for it to be picked up and repaired and returned at no cost!

I have sorted out my differences with them, however, not without a robust argument (with their GM) on my part.

It appears that their standard response to anybody seeking indemnity/assistance is 'repair or replacement is at our discretion'.

I just wanted people out there/here to know that they shouldn't just take/accept what these 'after-market claims management agencies' say at first glance, that's all.

Harvey Norman are now well aware of the situation, including the outcome that took me some 2 months to achieve.

Russ.

By the way, I had a simlar problem (and outcome) with another extended wty mob, called U-Nited (another firm used by Harvey Norman)

ic frith got very rich off that deal with harvey norman, its the deal they did that made them what they are , the biggest single aussie broker in australia. I forget which group they are a member of but it really does not matter.

i did a lot of work for them many years ago as a contractor so i know what they used to be like but back then they were a great company and they had only just entered into the deal with hardly normal which for the record is not honest company ( hardly normal i mean).

Dont know what they are like now and I dont think old man frith is around these days, he would have to be in his late 60's now if not 70's. For the record Mr Frith was a top bloke back then and was not afraid to get his hands dirty with the troops.

btw its also pretty standard practice for an insurer to deny a claim first time around.
The more I learn the less I know.
