Hey guys.

Got myself a new pm6004 2 weeks ago and it's starting to go funny. It's developed a hiss and not the normal kind. It got quite loud earlier that it was audible over the music. I stopped the music and tried to adjust the volume via the knob on the unit. Changing volume made no difference however there were funny noises made through the speakers when wiggling the volume knob. The hiss dissipated the more I turned up and down the volume control, almost like I was releasing built up energy or something. Then, while turning the knob, the speakers made a loud noise and the unit muted its self and the knob turned its self all the way down to 0 WTF? It kept 'turning' even though it had reached 0 and the knob ceased to actually move. Then it stopped and all is well again.

Really, WTF?! An ideas guys? Lol I'm lost.

well....

i returned the unit to the store today, and they were only to happy to replace it but wanted to try and replicate the issue in store for their own curiosity.
they did not need to try as the issue has gotten worse now. the guy plugged it in and with out connecting any speakers or any source units the unit did the muting/volume knob down thing as i posted above and all he did was placed his hand on top of the amp. he reset it and touched it again, and it did it again. he was totally baffled as he thought it may have been the protection circuit but it was not. so i left the store and no doubt they will play with it all afternoon trying to figure that one out.

i get my new replacement tomorrow :-)
