Australian audio design continues to create very sophisticated products from small independent artisans. Heres a work of love:

Now that Supratek is back in business, I hope that in a short while they'll become SNA sponsors and can post product announcements in their own forum:)

“Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as ‘internationalists’ and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure – one world, if you will. If that’s the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.”

I think this might be the only-two-ever-made dac though(?)

They all sound the same.

Why are the amps pictured?

This is about the DAC, isn't it?

Edit: They do look great, they always do.

I think this DAC is more of a semi-retirement hobbie for Mick of Supretek?
I did message him if I could audition one and got told its his personal DAC and hes not interested in getting it reviewed.
I can also see why he wouldnt be arsed shipping one across Australia - a three box DAC-pre made of Aussie hardwood - not really a commercial endeavour is it?

Why are the amps pictured?...This is about the DAC, isn't it?...

http://supratekaudio...digital-to.html
The link explains the three box approach which if i remember is box one for the digital stuff, box two for discrete power regulation and box three for a Directly Heated Triode analogue section with volume and balance control. The analogue section looks very interesting. I might have to organise some espionage.

Now if only Mick could realise that it would be sooo much better with a PCM1704 based DAC .......I think if he got a Phasure and then modded it with a DHT analogue stage and popped it in one of those designer boxes he would actually be onto the end game....

: They do look great, they always do.

Im very impressed that some Aussie "locals" have the ability to create such fine artisan work. I do admire the quality of workmanship and the design integrity although to be honest its not really my style. I like the brute functionality of the Audio-gd look myself.

Well its a DAC with an analogue tube stage that acts as a very sophisticated preamp with both volume and balance features...and those DHT tubes hardened old blokes swoon over.

Thus I guess the name Predactor

....but just look beyond the specs and its obviously a temple for phallic worship.

Wow! Stunning! I asked mick how you can acquire one of the two only he is making, apparently they are going to friends overseas.

I enquired how much a fully built acko sabre dac would cost, fully optioned and built minus a case ( exa USB option and byebee shunt regs) and the price comes in at just over $3000, so I shudder to think what one of micks dacs would cost, would be a very good sounding unit though.
