Just read on Facebook that the Pitt Street Red Eye Records store is closing, they're moving it into the York Street store. There is a 20% off sale until the 6th of May when the doors close.

I didn't even know they had a store there!
I always go to the King Street.............now York Street store.
Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Yeah a fair bit - secondhand mainly. I used to frequent the store for secondhand CD's. Usually have a few hard to find ones

How timely, the misses just asked if we should go into the city for shopping on Thurs. Now there is a good reason to go. :)

Thanks for the headsup.

I used to work in Palings, George St, in the early '80's, take my wages & spend it all at Redeye. One of the great Aussie record stores. They have an excellent website that I make frequent purchases from. Superb service.

Thanks gooooobags. I may pop in and have a look. I've found brick and mortar shops that stock vinyl in Sydney to be pretty disappointing.

Stay away caddisgeek1!!!.
I was in Sydney a couple of months ago and visited both stores.
Went away a few hundred dollars poorer :)

Seriously though, the York St store is the better one if you only have time to visit one store.

Nothing wrong with their service.
I get a fair bit via mail order and usually get stuff whem I'm in town during shopping hours (not very often)

Their website lacks track listings though.............which I find quite annoying.
Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

They have such a massive selection, that maintaining the website must be a nightmare. My stuff always arrives 2 days after I order it & always well packed. Plus the prices are as good as they get.

I should be right to visit both stores, I'm heading to Sydney with Mrs Caddisgeek, and she's taking "Shoe Money"

Admittedly I haven't looked at their site often but I've always been able to find vinyl at a much better price elsewhere

regards, Trevor

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan!
It just annoys me when I come across something new and then have to try and find a track listing elsewhere.

I worked on the mezzanine level, selling jazz, soundtracks & nostalgia. I was supposedly the modern jazz expert at the ripe old age of 21.

Red Eye is the best music store and the Pitt Street one has the most character. What a shame that this is closing down. It is one of my favourite past times to do after work when in the city, is to stroll down and flick through the vinyl on the back wall, often purchasing new 180g vinyl.
