Hey guys,

My new stylus arrived and I have no idea how I pulled this thing apart. Everything is in pieces... Should have taken photos of pieces as they were removed...

Any idea which cable goes where!?

the picture shows the cartridge head upside down I think.
You have 4 cartridge connection leads which is a good start. The set-up is L+ and left ground, R+ and right ground.
The picture appears to show two cables per cable sheath/run - they do not seem to be colour coded (pity) as the usual configuration is
white = L+, blue=L ground, red=R+, and green=R ground. Still, considering that pairs of wires appear to be coming from each cable I would start by attaching each pair as left and right.
One wire is definitely red in colour - but it seems to be missing the connector - in fact you can still see the connector attached to the pin of the cartridge! These are press fit so you can re-attach.

So, start with the Red coloured wire - assume this is R+ and its pair the ground.
Check for colours on the remaining wires, otherwise just attach and see what comes out of the speakers.... if ok on RHS but nothing on LHS then swap the LHS leads over on the cartridge.

There maybe an easier way using a multi-meter but I'm not sure
Hope it helps, and, good luck

Awesome! Exactly the explanation I wanted. The cartridge is upside down just so I could access it.

Much appreciate the help/reply!

Cheers frankn,

Works a treat now! Had to resolder the connections as they were all a bit loose.

Sounds amazing! Any level my anti skating should be set on? (1-5)? Also, best way to clean these dusty records?

Thanks again

glad to hear it worked out ok. I'm not sure what the anti-skate should be set to, but I use about half what I set the tracking weight. So, if 2gm tracking weight I set the anti-skate to 1. Usually use as little as possible. If the music sounds good and you are not having trouble tracking or distortion in either channel across the whole album you probabvly have it set pretty okay. You could also compare to zero anti-skate as well. If you get yourself a test record with a few tracks you can check the settings. Ultimately, your ear should tell you if it is correct.
For example today, I was checking out my set-up with Tal (thank you, sir) - I had it pretty good - just one tweek with the tracking weight and it was set.
Cleaning records - best if you can get a record cleaning machine, there are some DIY ones that work well. Or clean them in the sink with a medium bristle paint brush, rinse with distilled water and leave to dry. There are a number of threads on what concoctions of fluids to use(I use distilled water with a couple of drops of "finish"dishwasher rinse aid - in a spray bottle). Before playing any album use a carbon fibre brush to remove surface dust.
