I'd strongly recommend you don't do that, 79raven. Calm down. Read the rules. And the concept of freedom of speech does not apply to any given forum owned by a person who has the right to determine what appears on their forum.

There are absolutely NO PRIZES for guessing who Mr Raven is...............or whom his friend is.

The thing is though, birds can easily be shot down. Let's hope this one crashes sooner rather than later :thumb:

I read it. I tried to reply but it was shut down as I typed. But I copied my comment first -

"This has not been my experience of SNA and all the Mods seem like reasonable people who generously give their time to keep the integrity of this site."

Dude - you seem to be fishing for a smack...

Yea read it and immediately contacted the moderators and sent him/her a PM. IMHO it was an outrageous way to handle any concern you have with what the moderators do - not to mention against the forum rules. No need to annoy others with your issues.

Kudos to the moderators for shutting it down as quickly as they did. And indeed all the moderators are 'reasonable people who generously give their time to keep the integrity of this site.' Its a thankless job that too often goes unappreciated.

Thanks
Bill

I moderate on other forums
Most moderators are softies and usually leave a lot of latitude, They judge the feel and direction any given thread is following and generaly make a decision based on
1) A complaint from a concerned member
2) On the fly because they are often participating in the topic
3) After sending a communication to an offending member they themselves are chastised in reply

By reveling the top three reasons ( in my experience ) a moderator handles on a daily basis I hope that members now have a better understanding of the process

P.S. Keep up the good work Marc

I'm also a moderator (although these days only intermittently active) on a large forum about email. The rules and moderation are much more severe than here.

Same here - I wince at some silly things I have done. But in this case, IMHO, it went even beyond respectful to just plain thumbing your nose at fellow members - spamming thread after thread with your off topic rant is simply having zero consideration for other members. The whole forum suffers because of carry on like that - not to mention the time it would have taken the moderators to clean it up.

Thanks
Bill

Has the indicator changed from a bar to a point count now?

Not bothered by the change, just making sure I'm not imagining it ;)

I'm glad it has changed, as members understand "0 warning points", rather than a bar indicating "no warnings". :)

There are 3 levels of intelligence amongst humans today.
The most intelligent learn by listening to other intelligent people.
The second most intelligent learn by reading intelligently written books.
The rest of us learn by pissing on the electric fence.
