I am looking to build a home theatre room which still has to double as a lounge room. I have a few idea's on what i would like to do but any advice would be very welcome.
The room is 4.5m x 6.0m,has three widows one on the north wall two on the west wall and a archway entre in the south east conner.
I am thinking of building a false wall the full length of the north wall to cover the window and was thinking of using http://www.oceanicdi...hure%202011.pdf to cover the entire wall and the small wall at the south.
If anyone has experience using this product good or bad please let me know. Thick block out curtains will be use for the two west wall windows and across the open archway entre. Finally sound panel on the west and east walls were needed. I am hoping that the north and south (manhattan sound wall) will cover me for bass traps.
I have a 7.1 and 2ch setup and i will place the mains B&W 802n's and sub a Velodyne 1200spl on the north wall facing south.
I guessing that there are cheaper ways to do things but the WAF factor will play a big part :)

Thoughts advice? thanks in advance.

hey, give us a sketch of the proposed layout. I recommend you do some basic calculations on your RT60 before settling for treatments or certain products. I always have at least 2 design iterations were I measure the RT60 at certain stages of construction, and adjust my calcs for the next line of treatment. The uncertainty on absorption coefficients is huge especially with studwall constructions. And one more tip: make sure you ask the manufacturers of stuff for properly measured absorption coefficients. Where you can't get any, don't buy anything.
