USB 2.0 or USB 3.0?
Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

The uDAC comes with a generic USB A to B cable. I've not needed to upgrade the bundled cable, to be honest. It'd be silly using one that costs more than the DAC :)

NuForce does build the Impulse USB cables which are pretty well made. But I think it might make sense if you were using their HDP DAC.

Oh! They've got a nice new USB 3.0 cable out.

The handmade split-wire USB cable for AB Systems looks good for the money too. Wouldn't mind trying it some day for the sake of $50.

If you ever upgrade the DAC here are some recommendations.

Ard 100-200 bucks: Kimber

Ard 1000 bucks: Crystal

Ard 2000 bucks: Locus Nucleus

Ard 4000 bucks: Locus Cynosure

The last two are no longer in production but there might still be existing inventory.

Is there a difference? At a recent shootout, not blind but members were asked to choose while we swapped cables, but not told which was which, the Cynosure was better but no one wanted to pay for it once they knew the price.

You would get far better mileage with software players. Try Jplay on the PC in hibernate mode. There's a trial so you might want to test before buying.

None of these cables are USB3.0 compliant. But you wouldn't need it for audio DAC transmission. The only USB3.0 DAC I know of is the Blacknote 30 and even that doesn't need the 3.0 bandwidth.

What defines a "decent" cable and/or a "not decent" one other than price maybe?
