I have purchased two items from Audiomarketplace (including an SGR sub woofer). Excellent service and he does follow up as well such as making sure it was delivered correctly. Always well packaged (too well).

merlin audio is probably the main importer. service is faultless.

one thing to keep in mind
http://www.internati...ynamics.com.au/

has been appointed as the official distributor just recently for Australia
http://www.stereo.ne...as_distributor/

how that impacts ongoing support for products bought through the multitude of existing small importers is pretty unknown at this stage. So if not in a rush I would hold back a tad on purchase, as might be better to just buy one fully supported through the official distributor :P

+1 for Merlin Audio. http://www.merlinaudiodesign.com.au/

Ken went out of his way to fix a problem I had with the multi region chip on my BDP95. (he actually came to my house and replaced it for me).
I can't say enough about his service.
I feel local service is more important than price when you have a problem.

Ditto, had the same excellent service experience from Ken myself. Would buy again from Merlin Audio in a heartbeat. :)

International Dynamics are now the official importer of Oppo products and they have various hifi distributors selling Oppo products eg Len Wallis in Sydney. The price is also lower than what it was before this.

Gatti at http://www.gattiweb.com is where I've been looking lately, as he is local to me and am considering the 93 with modchip.
Want to import some BD's from Criterion which are not region free hence the Oppo modded.

Hopefully they maintain the Oppo products better than they maintain their Website as there is no mention of Oppo there. A bit disappointing as I went there looking for somewhere that stocks the product in Melbourne but no joy at all!

I was very pleased with ordering my oppo direct from oppo & installing the mod chip for myself (bought off ebay) was ridiculously easy! Worked out significantly cheaper than buying a modded one (even though I got three mod chip from the ebay store that sells the cheapest modded one).

they only posted on dtv the other day about availablity and that need to update their website etc,

Hi Nick,

We expect BDP-93AU and BDP-95AU to be available to dealers in the second or third week of March. OPPO products will be added to www.internationaldynamics.com.au over the coming week, and the list of authorised dealers will be populated over time. The response from specialist retailers about OPPO has been sensational, so you will see authorised OPPO dealers in all states.

Upon release to the market, authorised dealers will be able to advise options for buyers.

More news soon.

Michael

maybe you want to ring them up and complain not good enough :o

I recently bought a Oppo BDP-95 from Len Wallis in Sydney for $1500 and it is region free. I'd like to add that I'm quite impressed with the sound of the Oppo BDP-95 and I'm going to look into Joe Rasmussen modifying it for better sound.

I'm wondering for those that are purchasing through Merlin, are you just going through the web store http://www.opposhop.com.au/ or are you calling for a better price and arranging delivery?

I went to two Sydney Audio stores today and they said they can't get their hands on them.

Going through http://www.opposhop....-bdp-105au.html for the BDP-105AU with a pro kit I'll be looking at $1645

I guess I'll have to call around for a better price but I'm happy to take recommendations.

Got my 93 there. It's my local, an experience to visit and good prices. Got lots of stuff there over the years, most recently the Nuforce iDo DAC/amp which I am listening to right now off the iPad thru my Sennheiser HD650's

You can say that again. Unless it's changed a lot, the store is chaotic to say the least. And well then there's the bros....... what a pair to see in action.

A close mate of mine was there on a Saturday morning where C took a deposit from a customer for a pair of speakers, but forgot to get the customer's details. Then T couldn't find his car keys. Result - a bit of skirmish between the two, each blaming each other for the muck up. Words were apparently exchanged between the two (rather loudly) and this resulted in all the customers getting ejected from the shop and an early closure for the day. How else would you run a business?

However you're correct on the prices. Generally pretty competitive. :thumb:

Cheers,
Alan R.

Merlin is still an authorised Oppo retailer, via opposhop.com.au

Otherwise Encel is selling them at a reasonable price here: http://www.encelster...-blu-ray-player

Also very happy with Ken at Merlin. He does know a lot about the gear and cares a lot.  Helps with setup issues which is not common amongst suppliers.

My system consists of a seemingly random set of devices that are totally unsatisfactory for their intended purpose.
That is until I listen to something else and prefer what I already have.

Merlin gets my vote easily. Careful with the Multi region kits on the 105 - high failure rates on the hardware I have heard - not an issue with Merlin tho. Ken was working Xmas day to get orders out and make his customers happy. Goes over, above and beyond.....
