Not a healthy habit looking at equipment just outside a sensible budget. Be less painful looking at impossibly expensive gear with no cause for hope!

Just stumbled on these:

Baroque M15

And should really stop looking at these:

Yes and there are no pictures of the Rob Manson speakers I'd truly love.
A quick but probably only a short term fix (sadly ) is to actually go and buy some speakers like I'm about to do today(hopefully).

*@HF: I got a copy of Too Much Coffee Man's omnibus edition and another book of TMCM stories in the mail the other day. Quite a good read:thumb:

"attenuate the self-generated reflections" - "to absorb and dissipate"...sounds like a mirror to me and why put one of those on top of a speaker?

I know people have different tastes but I can't see what people see in those ugly veneers!
Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

NO!! Maggies for me! :thumb:

Although I may well replace the mid-range panel with 6 x BG NeO 8s (each side), like someone in the US has done - gives a faster mid-range, more akin to an electrostatic.

Andy

Another short term fix is to live vicariously through others - cool, what speakers are you getting?

Perhaps there is need for a Too Much HiFi Man to be published?

Well if Bill from Mcleans ever check his inbox I'm hoping to grab a pair of 1.7's. got nothing to drive them with yet (unless you lend me your Magtech Trev:p) but at least it's a start.

Very nice - the need for another amp limits my excursion into Maggieland. Waiting for email is the pits - good luck

The WLM Diva's are IMHO seriously some of the best looking floor standing speakers I've ever seen...They make me drool a little! I can't stop looking at them either! I was looking at the Hoyt-Bedford Type 1's when I thought I'd just have a listen to the Diva monitors and the sound absolutely grabbed me! They actually grabbed my wife too, who was there at the time... she actually was the one that asked James the question "how much extra to get these?". Now I know why I married her!

If you head to Brisbane... I'm sure Tony from Audio Addiction would give you a listen of his Diva Floor Standers http://audioaddictio.../p/contact.html

Magenta Audio seem to distribute the Zu Omen Def's, but not sure of dealers http://www.magentaau...-page/zu-audio/

I'm about to start auditioning some Martin Logan Electromotion ESLs.
Knowing the rest of their range from a few years ago and some from more recently, I have a feeling I'll then be trying to figure out how to raise the circa $3300 I'll need to bring a set home.
Sony XA5ES player - Burson discrete op-amp output stage upgraded - all 6 devices
Bewitch KT88 Class A valve amp - with Electro Harmonix and Golden Dragon tubes
Aurum Cantus Leisure II spks - external rebuilt xovers, hand made ribbons, screw coupled to 40kg concrete mass loaded welded steel stands
Achtung&Kimber cables - 8 braid solid silver Litz I/C, 4TC and 8TC spkr

Window shopping or Flirting ?? :-).

I have no reason to even really look around (current B&W CDM7SEs still great), but cannot seem to NOT check the 800-series almost every day :-(. 800 D and 802D .. too expensive, too expensive ..

Next ones in line 803 / 804 D still pretty nice .. (price still up there). Difference does not seem too big.. although: one input power 50-200W.. The other 50-500W (as the big brothers)..

flirting, flirting .......

Not knowing much about B&W speakers - although I did own a pair, bought from Tivoli HiFi over 30 years ago - I wonder why people don't rave about the "Nautilus"? To me they are seriously sexy speakers and, I understand, sound pretty good too? :thumb:

Andy
