I'm heading off O/S for work in a couple of weeks and didn't want to take my usual camera of choice, and have been looking for either a P&S or bridge camera to take along for the ride.

After much touching and fondling, I found the majority were too small for me to be comfortable with using them. So on a whim I picked up a Nikon D7000 to take along for the ride. It is smaller and lighter than my other camera body and I can use all of my current accessories and lenses with it. Anyway, that is my excuse for buying it and I'm sticking to it. ;)

So to my question what memory cards are owners using with their D7000's?

I've looked at some which are around $300 for 32GB

For your info I only shoot RAW, and at this stage of my life don't generally photograph high speed objects e.g. motorcar racing.

I use 2 Sandisk 8GB cards in my D7000. I also shoot in RAW. I have the cards set to overflow from 1 -> . I also take my iPad with me and download every day. I've never run out of capacity, I can't imagine taking more than 200 photos in 1 day. If I do it's probably be cheaper to buy 2 extra 8GB cards

Thanks Prof...

I've got a photowalk on tomorrow, and will be using both bodies with different lenses to get a feel for the new toy.

I'll check out some prices of 8 & 16GB cards

I use a Sandisk Pro 16gb in slot 1 and 4gb in slot 2 of my D7000. I shoot raw + jpeg (hence capacity differences). Works a treat. Mine are both Class 10, I'd definitely make sure whatever brand you get, to go for a Class 10 card. It will ensure write speeds are optimised for raw files, and if you ever need to use them in a HD camcorder, anything slower may not be fast enough.

Thanks John, they are also the ones I use in my other camera. The D7000 takes SD cards which are available in the Extreme version as well.

Thanks CP_, I'll check them out when the shops open for trading again.

Picked up a couple of Sandisk SDHC cards today.

I bought a 32GB and a 16GB class 10's, should last me a while.

Thanks again all for the feedback
