Found this kool pre production tonearm today from across the ditch. take a look, quite interesting.

Well I've been lucky enough to hear the arm in action and it is magic!

I believe the theory of wooden arm wands or even cartridge bodies is one of combining a certain frequency resonance of the wood coupled with the natural warmth/tone that wood has. That is why hard woods like zebrawood, rosewood and alike are generally used.

Metal arm wands generally need to be damped As metal rings, so the resonance is controlled, something wood arm wand do not need.

I also think turning long arm wands may be easier than hollow metal arm wands for small manufacturers

Tonearms like Schroder, Talea, Reed all use wood arm wands

I am sure someone else has a more technical explanation thou

It is still a work in progress I think. I believe that he has been considering a weight and a string.

Very interesting read on the other forum. Gee price seems excellent for a 12" and the materials used in build.
Very clever man, looking at the math on designing an arm late at night. wow.

The aesthetics are like that of the Shroeders except that it is a normal unipivot.

Hi wolster, I probably shouldn't have made that post.

I heard the arm on omegaspeedy's own Lenco. He's a friend and therefore I guess I'm biased so I don't know if I should really be commenting; I don't want to sound like a sycophant. I will say that I believe in the product and I doubt people will be disappointed.

Yep TT there are a couple of models but yes am tracking down one as I type, a buddy in Germany - Berlin is trying his best to score one and send it over. this will complete what I'm setting up. Software, MX55 1/4", Tascam mix desk, parametric EQ etc and my own vinyl cutter.
I think it's legal to cut your own music "yes"

There is so much music just on CD that I want on vinyl that they just never did.

Do you have something to protect the bearing from potential freight mis handling? Graham Engineering has a rubber cover to protect the Phantom arm bearing during freight.

Hi Jaspert. To protect the bearing I'll separate the main arm from the pivot and cover the pivot with some protection. Sending it connected like that would not be a good thing:) I'm really sorry about the delay. Between my full time job and family, they are taking a little longer than expected. I'm trying hard to get them out without compromising quality.

Cool. That's good to know. I had received some unipivots from their manufacturers with inadequate protection for the bearings with their packaging in the past. Happy to wait for your goodies.
