Trevor Whittle
Hi Does anyone have an opinion on whether the addition of a super tweeter would improve the sound of my Altec 19s? Any suggestions? Thanks Trev
VanArn
As the Altec Model 19 has a sensitivity of 99dB SPL for a one Watt input,a horn loaded tweeter would best suit the application.Certainly with the V.O.T.T. models, Altec's it was worthwhile to fit a JBL ring or slot radiator to extend the high freq's. The Model 19 should have the tangerine phase plug(802-8G driver) unit fitted and the improvement may not be as effective in this case.
Trevor Whittle
Thanks for your response. I've read that the addition of a super tweeter add a dimension of "space" to most speakers, even though the frequencies cannot be detected by ordinary ears.
