I am trying to set my default screen brightness level to min. Every time I turn my iMac off and then on it resets to maximum level and I have to turn it down to min. I usually use the hot keys to adjust the level but know in System Preferences you can adjust the level there too. But could not find a default tab.

I am a real dummy when it comes to computers so thought would start this thread off with a silly question.

You could try Pref's> Display> Color> untick box "Auto adjust brightness/etc"

I agree with the Prof. I always adjust the screen brightness by the F1 and F2 keys on the Mac keyboard.
Easy peasy.
