An idea. Is it a good one?

Obviously this needs to be opt in and by agreement ...
Just an idea. Timing etc could be anything that works. A season appropriate catering arrangement is an option too.
That is until I listen to something else and prefer what I already have.

It is mostly a morning-afternoon type get-together run by the Queensland Audio Club.
Dinner may be a better option because everybody knows that hi-fi sounds better at night..........

then govts can do the same to cigarette companies who add nicotine to their product.
Raising revenue is not an excuse for allowing manufacturers to use addiction to sell product.
Imagine the public outrage if supermarkets put addictive chemicals in meat or vegetables.

On Saturday 17 December from 3PM until we want to finish, I will make my place available for anyone who wants to have a look/listen to what I have (inner North side). If those who come along want we can progress to other places in subsequent events (months apart, I suspect). BYO drinks and there will be something to snack on. Low key and convivial.
Just reply to this and I will pass on the address or e-mail to peta@petaguy.info (preferred).
What will we do? Listen to music that people bring along and talk about things that we are interested in ... test ideas and all that kind of thing. And enjoy the conversation.
That is until I listen to something else and prefer what I already have.

just joined the forum. Posted my system on the showcase thread. I live in Canberra and I regularly get together (say every 4-5 weeks) with about 10 friends and we listen to different music. We rotate the place we meet so everyone gets to host. We get to play about 15-20 minutes of music, interspersed with nibbles, wine, dinner and conversation. Every second get together we have a theme such as 'meaning of life', 'protest songs', 'food', '3 degrees of separation', etc. It's realy enjoyable and a fantastic way to broaden your music appreciation. I've been exposed to so many different artists that I wouldn't normally have had the opportunity.
Generally, the quality of the system is secondary to the music, but lately a few of us have been upgrading our systems to improve the overall enjoyment.
So far we've had about 47 get togethers...called DUMAS (DUffy Music Appreciation Society)...and the next one is no. 48 with the theme..."48".
Cheers
