Folks this is just an idea to bounce around and see where it ends. Thinkin of holding a regular GTG type thing as follows:

What it will be
-Monthly (during the warmer months), say the first Sunday of each month
-Arvo thing, perhaps 2 til 5 (no BBQ and such, trying to keep the idea as simple as possible)
-BYO drinks, chairs and some blues (any sort, any format)
-Come and go as you please, but let us know if you plan to attend so we can arrange sufficient nibbles
-A chance to meet, chinwag, chill out (inside or out front or back) and enjoy some tunes
-A chance for the longsuffering womenfolk of SNA to meet as well. I plan to encourage you to bring your partner/wife so Em isn't lost in a sausagefest...;)

What it will not be
-Blind testing, equipment comparisons or structured in any way.

That's it. I'm keen to hear who may be interested or have other suggestions to throw into the mix.

The List:

Greg Wormald
Grumpy
Givendale
Frankn and Mrs Frankn
Batty
Mondie
Rantan and Mrs Rantan
Adrocks
Darthlaker
TonyM (?)
4Hecks and Mrs 4 (maybe)
Rockandormaybekindaonedayroll
Tal (and Mrs Tal?)

Maybes:
Mikizee
Emesbee

Hey Bear that sounds like a great idea for the SA members. As I am over here in Melbourne I probably could not participate but purely as a matter of interest are you proposing moving it around at various members places or just at your place for now? I used to be a member of a collecting club and they would have a monthly meeting at a different members home. Anyway good luck to you for your initiative and I hope things work out well for your idea!

Really interested Bear. Sounds like a cracking idea. Summer months suit me fine as racing season is all gone and it really aint that nice up here in winter. Keeping/getting the womenfolk interested gets a big tick from me. Hope we can make it work out.

l am keen for this Bear. Happy to come to your digs each month, or host the occasional event. With the warmer weather coming its ideal to open the music room out on to the deck, makes for a relaxing arvo.

Sounding good so far, might think about perhaps the last Sunday of the month instead, making the inaugural event Sept 25?

Now here's a strange thing. as I was replying in this thread, my wife walked into the room and was telling me about people who have a common interest, just getting together once a month for no particular reason other than some company.
I showed her the thread and she reckons it is a great idea, [ especially the female partners bit ] and neither of us could believe the co-incidence.
So count us both in.

Thanks.

Yeah, good ideas Bear.

About time we extracted our collective digits and do something to re-establish SA's enviable GTG status. Paul Spencer's idea re a progressive GTG sounded like it had a lot of merit, too and could easily be applied locally. Spring's just around the corner.......sounds like fun times ahead.:)

Does doctor feelgood count as blues? it's really rhythm & blues.

Erm, the Motley Crue song?...

MESSAGE TO ALL- Chances are I will not have vinyl capability as my phono stage may be still away for surgery. Perhaps, due to the numbers, just bring one interesting blues CD/SACD and we'll see how we go yeah?

You probably caught it from me, Grumps.:thumb:

Hey Ant, phono stages are about as portable as you can get - surely someone could bring one. I've only got an entry level NAD, but you'd be welcome to that FWIW.
Cheers

If you're happy to bring it I'd be very appreciative. Mrs. M coming along too?
