Thought I'd start a thread and anybody else that went down for a look and photo session can add photos and share with those who cannot make it to Sydney Harbour.
Or post your thoughts on this years Vivid light festival.

I'll not only be heading down for some piccies O.S but I've already booked tickets for 'Bat For Lashes' at the Opera House which is part of the associated musical entertainment.
That sounds like a great night on the harbour, show us your photos when your finished the shoot.
I shot mine with an LX3 compact, great for agile shooters. Can you tell us what gear your using ?
Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space.
do tell JD, who was playing? and the venue ? your pretty close to the front !
indoor stage shots can be difficult. My last ones were a while back in the concert hall O.House with "Pink Floyd"

I went to see the Sydney Vivid Festival last Saturday and have a look what I saw - a ferry story unfolded next to the Sydney Opera House - hope you like it!
Hi justshooting (love the name) welcome to SNA.
Did you shoot the video ? loved it in 720HD ! the audio on the video was interesting to say the least... your production ?

Thank you O.Sydney!
I've just started shooting as a hobby - it's actually my first production - had some fun making a story out of the footage I shot... I really appreciate your comment.
Your photos are very nice

Hi Mate, yes, I saw Natasha perform on Friday night but left the camera at home..........I didn't think they appreciate me lugging a D700 and 70/200 f2.8 into the place. Breathtaking performance from her and the band, In fact I'm playing her album 'Two Suns' right now. I'm so glad I went as these two nights are her only live appearances planned for 2011 as she's working on the new album. Best gig I've been to in years, kudos to the organisers for bringing her out here.

thank goodness there was a bubbles sound track, I thought maybe too much of that Tassie whiskey.
Very imaginative. What's your software choice for editing?
I used too see how creative I could get using windows movie maker for the old family vids, used to add a bunch of sounds from CD's that I'd purchased...
I'm going to try and get down to the harbour one more time before the lights go out on the festival

Hi,
I'm impressed with your lens specs, that would be a 'little' on the biggish side to carry around.
Natasha ? Not familiar... what's the music style?
What did you think of the light show ? did you get much time to look around?

Light show was awesome on the Opera House, no time to look around at the other buildings I'm afraid. Next year perhaps I'll do a straight photo night along with the hundreds of other 'togs I saw around the place. Geez the City was humming.
Natasha Khan (aka Bat for Lashes) generally characterized as 'Indie' I guess. A real mixture of soaring vocal melody with strong underlying percussion (full drum kit plus Tympani's will do that), lots of bass and rhythm via keyboards and a 4 piece string quartet to round things out. Quite a few pieces on YouTube for the unenlightened and well worth a visit.

LOL @whisky
I'm on Mac so I've just played with whatever the iMovie offeres - editing tools, music & sounds. Btw my Opera House video is doing well on the youtube. Aprox. 2000 views by now. Last Sunday it was rated #17 in the Travel & Events Australia category. Quite a few people like it and some even have made it a favorite - cool.
Watched a bit of the Customs house and shot the "Spirit of the Land" playing didgeridoo on Friday night. Nice lights, colours and sound. Have a look.
Also a bit of MCA

that musician play the didgeridoo was great to see again...
Your close ups clearly showed his mouth actions, eye movement and face paint.
When I was down there for the opening night of Vivid, as we walked around the harbour we went passed these musicians, I like a good groove so I started dancing in front of the spectators and for some reason the girls I was with got a embarrassed and ushered me out of there... not content with that short dancing fix I danced over to the stand where they were selling their CDs and bought one for 10 bucks. This CD goes, well produced etc. Played it many many times since ... rocks in my system. My poor neighbours.
2000 views in a short space of time is impressive. Well done
