I have a question?
1) How is it possible to keep quiet & stop asking questions especialy when the music is playing
2) Who was the worst culprit on the day

It was good to have you guys and the others around for a few hours today, a few guys for the first time while others returned to check out the more recent system changes.
My room is pretty small and has only one seat that really works sound wise so it was a musical chair thing. Hopefully most had a brief taste of the setup.
We listened to Micro Seki RX 5000 turntable with Phantom II/Octofon MC-A90 mostly on the day with the occasional spin with FR-64s/FR-7f ( both with Allnic H1500SE CLR phono) and Micro Seik MAX-237/AT-33PTG ( K&K Phono). Some played their CDs with Sony SCD777ES transport feeding Satch Max NOS dac.
The day went pretty smoothly, no blown tube/drivers, broken cartridge on the day... And i even managed to clean up the dishes/place before the wife & kids came back. SWMBO was pretty impressed.
I took a few pics too.

Here's one Steve I took of Jasper's gear, but not up to the standard of John's camera...........very busy up front with all the tube amps and of course that beautiful Garrard 301.
]
I was going to mention the 301, absolutley spectacular

Are they Yamaha 6681's sitting on the floor not getting used?
Beautiful setup there, i bet it was singing beautifully.

It was good to meet some new faces and a few old ones as well .... lol
Thanks for putting on an enjoyable afternoon Jasper! I don't think you have enough turntables!
Quoting yourself from another thread.
Some people suffer from addictions, I quite enjoy them!

Is that the T500a MII tweeter? If so what are your thoughts.
Are they Yamaha 6681's sitting on the floor not getting used?
Beautiful setup there, i bet it was singing beautifully.
More refined and extended top when compared to Coral H-100 tweeter. Integral part of the system sound now and driven by my 45 SET amp currently.
Thinking of trying 4 ways with the Yamaha 6681/425hz horn doing 1200hz and up to
the tweeter since i have them there. Probably a bad idea with drivers integration issue in the room.
Thanks. The system sounds quite enjoyable tuned to my ears/preference atm.
How's your Le Cleach horn project going? Still research phase?

Jasper,
thanks so much for the invite, sorry I had to go early.
Food was great as was your hospitality.
Very very nice gear too...I can see you put many hours into your system and it is truely amazing. I'm glad I got a chance to see/hear it at last after seeing your pics.
Two funny moments I remember:
1. when I asked you which amplifier you were playing...you then said ALL of them...Ha! Ha! Silly me!
2. when you were in the kitchen chatting and I put on one of your Chinese CD's...I said to the guys "let's see how long it will take for Jasper to come into the room"...about 15 seconds!!! ![]()
It was also good to meet Fatgen...I asked him to give my Cary amp back but he now wants $20,000 for it...Ha Ha.
Hope to catch up again in the future...keep up the good work.
Cheers...Vanch
It was great to meet others too...the 2 famous Keith's ie Keith W and cheekyboy Keith, Paul Spencer (2nd time) thanks for the open baffle and bass traps tips, JohnA taking happy snaps everywhere (you didn't get me in any...OK then, be like that
, David and Fatgen and, and??
Oh bugger! my memory cells have faded...Allan?
Anyways, it's unbelieveable how much hi fi one can fit into a small room.
Jasper, don't forget to update your home insurance mate...something like this:
Home Building cover...Sum Insured $500,000
Special Hi Fi cover.....Sum Insured $800,000
Thanks again, restraint shown with the volume control this time, I did touch a couple of your turntables while your back was turned and I'm sure the drool will wipe off the valve amps with some Spray & Wipe..![]()
Cheers...Vanch

As with most GTG, most of it will be chit chat and outside of the room in this case. All well behaved on the day.

Good to see you Vanch.
I was expecting you to take control of the volume control and give it some on the day but you didn't...
Thanks for the reminder on the insurance, i have had repeated conversation with my
insurer's staff on the phone over the years that went like this :
" Are you a DJ? why are you still buying vinyl records?"
" What?! You spent so much on a record player!!"
Something like that anyway..

Hi Doc,
I will take a few better pics of the acrylic cartridge case ( made by a friend) for you tonight and also another one made from recycled wine bottle box.
I know Keith W wants that Micro too so i would not take his advise on this occasion.

If you ever decide to sell the yammies let me know. My Project is designed and templates are made. There is an extensive thread on diyaudio if interested.
Should be making dust by next week:-)
I will keep that in mind. Will have a look on diyaudio. Having seen what you had done with your DIY turntable, i'm sure your speaker project will be spectacular when it's done.

Thanks John. Always having a car thing at my GTG when you are around. Last time it was me giving your GTi a blast and it's KW's Boxster this time.
Jasper, thanks for the invite, great to see someone else who's a true believer in horns. Love the way they project the sound out in front of you.
Keep up the good work!
regards Ian
Thanks Ian and nice to meet you.
Great shots of a GTG from one of the nicest, and most audiophiliac, blokes on SNA - Jasper.

I am glad to hear that Vanch didn't blow your Corals.. err.. so to speak - with his like for ear bleeding volumes. As for the spray-and-wipe, you should insist that he wears gloves next time!
What a great day. Please keep me in mind for the next one.
ps: Great pics by John A!

sorry you couldn't make it.
Yes, this time I was very well behaved...
Immediately, my fingers start twitching, persperation swelling on my upper lip, heart rate increasing...I look around, "is anyone watching", I reach for the control, gently feel it's contours with my fingers, stroke it a few times...my mind saying...."don't do it!! back off now...resist Vanch, be strong man, avoid the temptation"
Before I know it, my thumb is pressing the volume up button, be gentle, careful, what are you doing you 'fool'!!.
Jasper appears at my side, I look up sheepishly, then the words come out of my mouth without thinking..."How loud can I go?"
"WHAT!!!" You didn't really just ask that question????
Jasper replied, "It's up to you".
NO! That's what Richard said too just before I attempted to blow his roof off...
Somehow, I resisted, a mild increase of volume for a few minutes then backed of to normal listening levels. That's all the courage I could muster.
"Time for some pizza Vanch, get out of the chair...no harm done...This time.
All good fun again...thanks guys...

Vanch, one of these days I'll have a GTG and say to you "crank the volume, I dare ya!" .... after I've created my 100db monsters. It might be a bit like staring down the barrel of a tank, then being passed a remote control that fires the gun! I'll be wearing ear protection!
Sounds like a challenge to you( building the thing) and Vanch....sooner rather than later Paul.

Careful Paul,
you could hit a nerve there...my fingers are twitching again!
Hope your system is V8 power coz when I put the "peddle to the metal" it'll register an 8.9 on the richter scale and completely swamp Tasmania. You'd better double up on those 'bass traps' mate and secure your house firmly to the foundations!!!!
