Over the last few months, I have noticed an increasing number of spammers like this one:

They have the following characteristics:

- they search for a thread and make a semi-relevant follow-up post. Some of the follow-up posts are actually convincing enough to revive the thread.
- the location field is the same as the userid field
- the signature links to an external site

Because of this, these spammers are harder to spot than the traditional "BUY AN IPHONE FOR CHEAP!!!" type spammers. None of the mods have time to open all the threads, so we have to rely on reported posts to find and delete these spammers. If you see any posts with these characteristics, please use the report post function.

I have seen a few posts (not too many) along those lines, and thought about reporting them, but wasn't entirely sure that they actually were spam. I guess its ok to report such posts anyway, just in case.

Hi,

I have reported several threads over the past couple of weeks. They are from newly registered members with only a couple of posts. I would report if it looks suspicious as per Keith's first post

This variety of spam is familiar to anyone who's kept a blog. The free screening software provided by e.g. WordPress takes care of it. Is there any equivalent for this site's platform?
