I would be amazed if that sale goes ahead. The seller doesn't know what he's talking about. All original copies are a blue/red mix. $3-400 is typical.

That probably explains why the seller offered his entire record collection to go with it. He knew he'd be lucky to get the sale.
Plus...it's Nirvana ffs

Wow, do ya reckon someone put in an extra zero and the other bidder just wanted to see how far they could push it? Look at the bid history, it jumped from the 00's to the 000's in no time flat!!
An almost $6K jump with the second last bid ??????????????????
Call me a sceptic, but that one just doesn't smell right (bidders identity protected as well)

Worth a look maybe? Only issue is that all those mods 'may' or 'may not' improve the sound. Also, getting hold of lasers may be difficult, but the owner says it can be sourced from ebay.

Less than 25% of RRP?
I think Serial Numbers would suggest approx 2 - 2.5 years old.
How they can be shipped OZ wide for $69.00 beats me.

If I had the room and hadn't sold the Krell I might take the risk. Seller's positve feedback is as a buyer only so that's no help. The postage cost may have been automatically placed by eBay.

Please, somebody buy them! They are a ridiculous bargain at that price.

ALERT!! Stay away from those Quad 2905's ...it appears to be Romanian scam and has been reported to Ebay.

If it sounds too good to be true........
IT IS!
I bid on these and bought them with the Buy it Now price.I was very suspicious. I requested phone contact. No contact.I also requested payment at pickup .Again no response. Then I received a demand for payment by internatinal wire bank transfer-an obvious sign of fraud. The bank account was in the name of somebody with a typical Romanian name.
I have reported it several times to Ebay but they have allowed the item to be relisted.I find this unbelievable. They have acknowledged my complaint but seem unwilling to suspend the add.
Some poor bugger also appears to have had is Ebay identity stolen.

The seller of the Quad's sure gets around. He's selling an identical pair in the USA and the funny thing is the room looks identical to the Aussie room?

Excellent point. The pair he is selling on Audiogon are located in Texas. No more need be said. I think I'll have a little fun and ask him about local pick-up!

Well, I had a closer look at the Audiogon sale. The sale was made in August, and the price was a bit over $3000US, and shipping was expressed as "worldwide" (who says Audiogon is expensive?). It is not inconceivable that the seller is onselling this pair, as they do not suit him. (Before doing this, I impetuously decided to report him to Ebay.)
err..that Audiogon sale didnt go thru as the reserve was not met and the legit seller is still selling legit gear on Audiogon in the USA...I say lets have some fun with the scammer...how about we bid it up to say 12 grand over five days till he wets himself?

I sent him a further question asking him where he purchased them from. I'm not game to play the bidding game, though!

And yet the ebay seller identity was Scott Austin. Then I received another ebay generated letter from him claiming his name was Kevin.
Ebay also asked me to cancel the sale so the vendor did not have to pay listing commisions!Once again an unbelievable response.
I will probably get negative feedback next.

....I can see many more scams to come with increasing sophistication...
Hardly sophisticated. Just look at the feedback. All built up with little cheap stuff - then all of a sudden selling thousands worth of hifi. An add with zero info about the sale or gear other than copy and paste specs. With a price that is too good.
Another easy giveaway is to google the gear with google images. The pics used by scammers come up more times than not on the first page and you can track where the pic originally came from.

(before you think too big a bargain, the seller thinks the woofers have blown. That would be 4 x Morel MW166 at $110US plus postage apiece from Madisound - maybe also from Duntech in SA?
Still even with the repairs they would be a bargain - and the seller may be wrong - all 4 gone? crossovers? wiring? Go on - take a punt!

It does have a fault but I am looking for something to play with (mod) so that does not concern me.
Just wondering if anyone has an idea what it might be worth?
Would it be worth modding or should I look for a 63 to play with? But I wouldn't mind something a little different.
If You see this post and bid against me fair enough, I figure alls fair and what I need will come to me eventually.
And any advice appreciated.

Hi Mitchell,
they are a good player, sound great and look very interesting too.
If you can fix it and it is not too badly scratched already, good workiing players like this one do sell anywhere from $400 to $700. The CD73 in excellent condition does also sell for higher than that too, but would need to be in near Mint Condition.
Good luck...Vanch...

His feedback does look nice, and it includes some good items. I would ask him a few questions about packing, arrangements for insurance, etc, just to get a feel for him. If his answers are polite and feel "right", I think you would be fine.

While I'm at it is there a preferred option for freight between UPS & TNT or should I go with the cheapest (in this case TNT).
