Is this the Australian model that is imported by the distributor or an import from HK/China ebay ? ie, Is it a true 240 volt amplifier or 220 volts?

My guess would be imported 220V versions, as I think the 240V's are model XA8800MNE.

I've been been keen on a set of these for a while and if you lived closer to southeast QLD I'd be making you an offer. I think the freight cost from WA on these would be pretty crazy, so might have to pass.

Can I ask Wampy what Class D amp(s) you're upgrading to, and if the heat and power consumption was a concern with the Xindak's? (happy to PM if you want).

Hi Turntable, I'd need to confirm with THOMO on these forums as I am the second owner.

The unit has 3 check boxes on the back with AC input power ratings:

110/120V ± 10% 50Hz T10A
220 ± 10% 50Hz F10A
230/240 ± 10% 50Hz F10A

The 230/240V one is selected so to speak.

Hey dr-wyas,

I swapped them out for a Wyred 4 Sound ST-1000 stereo amp.

I wasn't so much concerned about the power consumption but yes the heat was one of the reasons I decided to replace them, don't get me wrong, there is no issue running these amps under most conditions for a good 4 hours but after that I would give them a feel every so often to judge when they should be shut off to cool down. we're talking 10-15 mins before they are cool to the touch and ready to go on for another few hours.

The issue I had is that these amps were connected to my main setup which consists of my PC for music, movies, TV and also a few game consoles, I wanted an amp I could turn on and forget about for the rest of the day.

These are Class A for the first 50-60 watts. So technically they should be called class A/B amps. I have the 220v version bought from China, but I have a power regualtor set to 220v. These are truly wonderful amps. Much nicer than my previous MF A5 imho.

You can turn them on and forget about them, but best doing that in winter only
They do get hot!

I run these amps for hours and hours at times - even in summer. Class A amps will run very hot, it's not a flaw. But a fan in their direction can help confidence.

Judging from your pics, the amps seem to be the 220V rating. According to my mn's, the white spot indicates the power rating.

Fair call, I hadn't looked before the question was raised earlier in the thread and have been running the amps fine on my mains without a power regulator.

I've done a bit of reading about it and the opinion of most people is that 220V gear will not have a problem running on 230V mains, none the less, as you said earlier though a regulator is an option for people who are concerned.

Yep, they mostly will run fine on std mains, but voltages can run as high as 256v as I've witnessed on our PS10 (or more I am led to believe). I've been told that a lot of gear sold here in Aus is really 220v because of larger European sales even though they may be marked 230 or 240 volts as the extra costs by manufactures for different transformers aren't worth it. I don't know if that's true or not, I just wasn't willing to take the chance since most of my stuff is either 220 or 230v, a regulated 220v with the PS10 will be just fine afaic. The 220v XA8800mn's have a 10% allowance meaning they should be okay at 242V.

Your amps represent great value at the price - someone will be getting a bargain and a pair of powerful and beautiful sounding mono blocks. Good luck with them.

Can you elaborate on what the white spot indicates, and what the signifigance is? I'm at work so cannot check, but my Jungson amp (another Chinese amp) has 240v printed on back, but I know these amps are available in 220,230 v as well. Will be interested to see whether it is similarly marked.

There is a table printed on the back of the amps with 3 sets of voltages.

To save me getting the crane to move the amp out so I can read it, you can look at the pic in the first thread and see the table.
That one also has a black spot on the 240v but I think it's possible someone may have added that - possibly in China

The white spot aligns with the voltage of the transformer of the amp in question. Hope that helps Soundfan.

These are great amps and if I was looking for something in this style, I would buy these in a heartbeat. The price is a bargain, but when you list a FS here, you are facing the hardest set of potential buyers I have ever seen. I truly wish you well
