Gentlemen,

Sorry for the delay in organising this GTG.

Last night I brought the KR Audio Kronzilla and Antares 300 home.

The Kronzilla SD is a 22W per channel stereo power amplifier which weighs 50Kg's (I gave up trying to get it out of the box on my own) It runs a pair of T1610 tubes which came packed as if they were Bottles of Grange.

The Antares 300 is is a 10W per channel stereo power amplifier which weighs 38 Kgs (more manageable) and runs a pair of 300B valves.

I am looking forward to firing these up over the weekend.

How is everyone placed for a possible GTG on the 13th or 14th of March?

Hey Tax,
what else will be on show. ie your system ??
Also re listening to amps.... if people say they like it, aren't they actually saying they like your speakers ?

Hi Nigel,

Yes the amps will be hooked up to my speakers and my system.

I envisage that we will play the different amps to get a flavour of their respective individuality.

With regards to the your comment "aren't they actually saying they like your speakers ?" I guess it would be the same for most amplifier speaker combinations.

Cheers

BTW : This GTG is for a small number of members who would like to hear some KR amplification, not some system or component shoot out, or best of series.

It would not be suitable for members who are interested in those pursuits.

Hi Tax
Just saw this thread I would love to come but I don't think the wife will let me out .
The KR's are some of the best made tubes around .plus there owner Eunice will answer email's and if you have any tech questions she will get one of her tech's to send you a email.
What I remember the 1610 tube is a pair of 805's in one glass envelope. Also she was telling me at te factory they find it had to hear the difference between the different 300B tubes they make.
To get the best out of the 300BXLS they need a B+ voltage of 700 volts they're mini 845's  . They also use solid state input stage's instead of tube .

Cheers

56Oval,

Happy for you to come over at another time.

PM me if you are in this neck of the woods and I will try and arrange something, and you are welcome to stay overnight.

Yes, I am overcome by KR valves at the moment, given that I have a quad on the Audio Notes, plus these.

Interestingly (as far as 300B's go) the Antares 300 is a very special package indeed with its 12wpc.

The Kronzilla of course is on another level:)

Hi Tax
When Lucas measured the KR's he was very pleased with the results and build quality ,I think he said set to their spec's 10watts SE no problems .
In the active system I'm putting together the KR's are going to driving the 6.5" & 10" mids with a pair of 300B EAT's driving the ribbon tweet's .
I'm very tempeted to get a pair of KR BXLS to build a 16 watt SET for the 15"s .

Thanks for the offer .

Cheers

We are nearly there...tomorrow is the day

I am looking forward to meet the SNA members attending the Kronzilla GTG tomorrow.

I am also hoping that I may be able to mount a borrowed Lyra Skala MC cart on my TT arm tonight, instead of my current Clearaudio Virtuoso Wood MM. This should hopefully get things happening in the Vinyl department :-)

Yes, I guessed you were busy, especially with your own GTG next week.

I will try and make it if I can, but will have to play it by ear, as now that Uni is back in session, I have about 70 assignments to mark next weekend .
