So hows the weather in your part of town.

I'm at work and this onset of heat is getting to me.
Working near the foreshore I went for a drive along the highway to the local Safeway.
Along the way the sites were.....ummm....nice.
Well thats until I tried to get car park.
Sitting in the sun with indicators on finally for a long time someone is pulling out....yippee!

Well that is until some local cromagnon female tears up to letting out all the F's and C's which are native to their local tongue.

Anyhow after the barage and exchanging some words I won.:D

Felt sorry for cromagnons mate actually in this case which just sank beneath the window line in the passengers seat.
Anyhow I'm sure there are trolls everywhere,( I think this one just ate her young):nana

Just waiting to get back on the tools now. counting the minutes.

So guys hows your day ?

Bright and sunny, about 35C, slightly humid, light breeze.

Same as yesterday, and the day before, and the one before that...:D

So guys hows your day ?:nana

Great day! walked the dog, listened to some tunes, cleaned the oven, and cleaned up a very dirty tuner and replaced the fixed output leads to find it now looks, and works extremely well! Just need to find a blue globe for the tuning indicator...

Spent in my most frequented place of late

Bloody Hospital again, now I'm told my elbow is infected :D

So another 4 needles to drain the bastard, and a drip full of antibiotics

My body is falling apart

Not all bad news though, an IM shot of Pethadine has left me a little gaga and at least I missed the heat!

Seems when it's hot in Mexico it's cool in paradise! :nana

The day started with a 50km ride in the rain, then a bit of watery work, followed by some long phone calls, music, PC work, and tidying of the house, and finally a visit to a mate to try and help him fix his lack of TV reception in his new house around the corner.

All in all, a pretty good day. :D

Spent the day in Anakie, near geelong, nice breeze didn't feel as hot as it was.

Cruised home with climate controll set at 21 deg, car was telling me it was 33 deg outside the whole time.

Got home, too nice to sit inside, so i oiled & buffed Jasper's plinth.

We are getting a 22kw refrigerated cooler in the next place running off 3 phase. How much extra does it cost you roughly in electricity during summer?

Also need to look into this tariff thing mentioned.

North West Vic has begun its Nov heatwave period so we are expecting well into the forties until this time next week.

Those of you with refridgerative money burners will perhaps be interested in the new 'smart' meters that have begun to roll out. They are time of use meters (which are also available in NSW and probably other states ) so you'll get walloped for your power depending on the time/amount you use.....handy for hot water but hopeless for refridgerative air-cond. Mainly because power will be most expensive in high demand periods- like during the day in summer. Unit pricing is also a more expensive service than the current bulk entitlement method.

The other feature of the new meters is the ability to cope with feed-in from wind & solar....apparently. Naturally, unit pricing doesn't work with respect to feed-ins.

If Vics want more info then go to http://www.dpi.vic.g...A2572B20004C403
and follow the links

In the meantime.......I'll keep my swampy and work on improving the solar performance of my house rather than resorting to excessive kilowatt hours

Our house is the only house on the street that has a digital electricity meter. All the houses that are coming up still have analogue meters? did I just get shafted somehow??? Or is it because our house is the only house that has 3 phase power?

If you did the 3 phase connection recently then you may have had one of the new meters fitted in the process....or you may find that your digital meter gets replaced in the near future for yet another new digital meter.

Ask Citipower or Powercor.

not sure about that one mate, we have it also, ( almost 3 y.0 house now) and most around us have the analogue ones.
Then i have seen a few others with the digital ones, but did not look to see if they had 3 phase power.

Our house is 5 star rating, no doubt yours will be 6 star.

We've gone from needing heating last week to cooling this week:( I thought there was supposed to be a month or two in between when we wouldn't be sucking power through our newly-installed 3 phase line.

Still, things are an improvement on the previous house (well, log cabin) on this site. Andrew couldn't run the Xindak monoblocs at the original Woodstock GTG due to the electicity supply limitations:(

It seems Melbourne is set for its hottest November for 100 years.

Just when I though we made a little progress with our water reserves.
I'm sure now that'll all just disappear again.

Anyhow no A/C at our place only evap.
I actually wish we had both for the different occassions.
The` evep works a treat when all the bi-folds are swung open during the day.
But at night when you want to secure the house for sleep A/C would be nice.

MSB

We send the heat to Victoria, but damn Queensland keeps sending the heat down to us. Why won't New Zealand let that high pressure system that is sitting in the middle of the Tasman go past the land of the long grey cloud? Are they expecting a toll to be paid?

I would much prefer Queensland to send some water down the darling than the hot air we are receiving. But that is probably another thread.

Re airconditioning - if you are using a 5kW input unit and it is running flat out, you will be consuming 5 kWh every hour. At around 20 cents, that is a $1 an hour. Smaller units cost less, larger units in larger houses (read Mawson Lakes MacMansion) cost more. Better than feeling Grumpy in the heat though.

Adelaide's hottest November spell for 115 years, and Melbourne's hottest November spell for 103 years. Apart from a seabreeze, we won't get much relief until Monday, and that will be brief as temperatures start to rise again as the next big high moves across (from weatherzone.com.au).

A typical summer pattern, it's just a few months early. Victoria still has three months to go until it's warmest month of the year :P

33.6C in Ballarat right now - and I've had quite a few heat-related cases across my desk today.

Getting me an air-conditioner for the bedroom tomorrow (one of those portable ones) to last me until I have the $ for a split system in a few more weeks. My place seems to heat up during the day and then trap the heat in at night. Only managed a broken couple of hours sleep.

Stay cool all (and keep up the fluids)
