Item: Marantz SA11 SACD player
Location: Sydney
Item Condition: Very Good
Reason for selling: raising $$ for new amps
Price: SOLD
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, DD, COD
Extra Info: See below
Pictures: See below

I did have a whole lot of info in here before withdrawing it from sale. I think there are reviews galore for those wanting to find out more. It is a very capable player in Redbook and an excellent SACD player.

I want to explore tube amps and need the funds. Very reluctant sale.

Thanks for looking..:love

John

Scuzzi, how is this with RBCD compared to the droplet & 168?

I love the look of the marantz players.

Hi Rambo,

The SA11 is very capable in redbook but I did favour the Droplet. Not much in it. The Sa11 extracts a touch more detail. It has a sound similar to CD128 (I've not heard the 168).

The build quality is exceptional and the photos don't highlight that element of the Marantz.

The light blue lighting is a good look at night.

Rambo

having heard both as well and in the same room, i also feel the droplet may have a slight edge compared to the marantz for rbcd

However, they are a different sound and it becomes personal preference.

Having said that, for the money i would take the marantz as it is also a brilliant sacd spinner.

We have this player at home - and I wanted to mention the remote control. The remote alone is of incredible build quality - very solid and weighted nicely. Of course the player's quality is incredible too, but it's nice to see Marantz follow through the design of the player to the remote.

Good luck with your sale

EDIT: I just noticed the price - $1600!!!!!!! Bargain! Not telling how much we paid when it was released...

Yep - the remote is one of the better ones I've seen as a standard remote for a CDP.

Thanks for your note.

People, I am running one of these SACD into an KRK ergo room analyser and then into some Elac FS249 Crystal Membrane speakers...and I kid you not the Marantz is the beginning of an awesome chain. Brilliant RBCD reproduction and amazing SACD reprisal. The music just appears out of the void of darkness and silence.

If you want a bloody great CDP for a bloody great price ...pounce on this asap.

the only time I'll replace my baby is if I hear better on my rig, or she dies. :hiccup

ps...... I might add that 'superceded' does not equal 'better'...this player will still rape many at a higher price point.

Thanks for the post Psycho. I appreciate your support and endorsement of this player. You are making me think twice about selling it now.....:hiccup

I was already unsure.. Maybe fate will decide it's future.

This is an extremely good buy. For those who have been thinking about upgrading their CD players ,or to venture into SACD, go for it!!

There's a mod out now to suppress those tendencies in the SA11S1.. :)

If it doesn't sell I won't be unhappy.. The wife might be but I'll be just fine.

no worries mate. its just such a well built beast and I reckon it was way ahead of its time. Maybe some pics of the innards might convince people, its built like a finely tuned tank!

I'll mention it to the Bro in law as he is always telling me he is going to get some kit as good as mine one day, all the time!

The SA11 is one fine beast! If only I hadn't bought the 8003 last month...need to justify the upgrade!

I'd grab it Scuzzi if i didn't just recently buy the Raysonic, no question. Showed a pic and the price to my brother, and politely said 'come on man', but he's after a DAC. He was a bit drunk at the time, so I'll keep at him. (BTW he loved your Avatar mate!).

Thanks Braddo. Appreciate the assistance. He should be able to grab a decent DAC in that price range.

He must have the same kind of dogs.. ;)

I'm taking delivery of a few new items for my setup and will make a decision then. I'll just have to cop the ear bashing from SWMBO when she realises I've funded these new additions another way..

Better than regretting selling it.

Long story short, there are some amps I'm trying and a new DAC I've purchased. Who knows, the new DAC may lift my current CDT up to near SACD levels (it should, it's $$$). If that happens, then the SA11 is up for grans again. I'll start a new thread after offering it to the person who did contact me after I withdrew it from sale.

Stay tuned....;)

Jeez John, I'd leap on this one if only I were more financial at the moment  Catching up on stuff after being on Workcover ain't fun.

A magnificent player and a great price. You shouldn't have any trouble selling it.

All the best, Dave :nana

Congrats on the sale mate.

One day im going to have to buy a disc spinner again. Even if its just for when friends come round with a CD or two. And one of these units would be a bargain.
