metal beat
Spent the day at the hk hifi show today. One large exhibition hall with lots of gear, records, cd's and even tapes. Two more floors with more hi end stuff. There are LOTS of people who attend this show and many rooms were standing room only. Hard to get a read on the sound of the crowded rooms. A few rooms we did not go into, so will have another look tomorrow. Anyway, a few phone pics some may enjoy. blybo
Looks like Rega Saturn Cd and a Brio amp on the floor, can't see bottom piece in the rack Actually, Rega Dac on floor, and Rega Saturn R CD player. Assuming that, it's probably the Elicit integrated below the TT
Guest Misterioso
Actually, Rega Dac on floor, and Rega Saturn R CD player. Assuming that, it's probably the Elicit integrated below the TT Thanks, Neil. That's a surpisingly affordable system for these speakers. I guess JBL wanted to make the point that their speakers perform well even with relatively modest electronics. I like that. Edit: Hmm, maybe not so modest after all. It seems to be a Rega Isis player, not a Saturn R. And the amp does not look like an Elicit. Seems to have a large black volume control in the centre of the front panel. Stump Hi Stump We went into the room on Sunday and had a better listen as we were able to sit down. Very different sound vs standing up, so the Zu's must be sensitive to height. The sound was excellent. Nice and full that filled the room. Zu''s can sound a little harsh, so the LM cured that.

Hi James Too much drinking on this holiday!! The Invictus sounded good. Never heard the PMC speakers before, so hard to comment on sq, especially since the music choices were so naff in most of the rooms. The AF1 was on static display. The walker was on the same room as the af1, so choosing the Walker over the af1 was interesting. The room sounded a big bright, but again it was so crowded each time we went in, hard to make any meaningful observations. Dag phono was in the large hall, so music being played was meaningless as it eas so noisy around. The rockport room sounded excellent. Interestingly when they changed from the Thales to the VPI avenger, the music took a more upbeat lively musical delivery. Kronus room I cant remember what it sounded like. The Dohemann and Acoustical Systems table were both on static disply, so a little disappointed. Had a good chat with Dietrich from Acoustical systems and he had from memory sold a total of 9 of his super huge 35k turntables - 2 the prev day from Taiwan - amazing. analog brother
thanks for the insights, shane. it would have been nice if you could have heard the techdas or dohemann. the acoustical system is just a pipe dream. did you end up buying anything? fall in love? those scissor paper rock clubs got you drinking some more???? metal beat
Hi James Nothing that took my fancy outside of the Tech Das AF1 which I have fancied for a while. 3 phono stages were pretty kool. Acoustical systems with 4 imputs. Pure mono Phasemation phono stage and an EAT phono all looked great, but static display.
